Question A few questions...

First...I am new here...ive been erading posts for about two eyars now but i just bought my first car last month which is of course a 1995 Twin Turbo RX-7...its got about 18,000 miles on it and a bit of work to it but nothing to creative im looking towards maybe upgrading turbo and / or engine

The car has about 345 RWHP I was wondering if anyone here knows how many more horses i can gain off of any three of these rebuilt engines .. RX-7 Store

Also i know that generally FD's arent all that wonderful with N20 but im seriously thinking about it anyways maybe even jsut for an intercooler spray but if i do fuel up with it what parts would you recomend i was thinking just a fuel filter / pump would be alright but i could be misinformed...

Thanks very much guys.

Congrats on your purchase. Do you mean that you are planning on replacing the engine even though it doesn't need a replacement? As far as nitrous goes, you should do some searching around and look at other people's setups. Where in RI are you? I'm in Providence for school.

Im up in Burrillville its like way north part of Rhode Island...

Yeah i know it doesnt need to be replaced but i think that the apex seal is fading because compression drops every once in a while at random, not a big problem but it makes me suinch cause this car is already my life haha. And i was thinking if i can gain a lot of horses from that upgrade maybe its worthe the price?

You can't feel compression dropping. You might be feeling loss of boost or ignition breakup. I suggest you take it to a pro who knows these cars well and can take it for a diagnostic test drive. Plus, 345 hp is a pretty big number, I suggest you leave it be for at least a year so you can get to know it well.

BTW, a '95 with 18k miles? Wow that sounds nice.

I dont feel it...my friend has a compression tester with a gauge that sticks right to the outside of your windshield...when i was driving around i noticed maybe every 10 seconds the needle would drop...but then i tried it again another day and it stayed steady...?

Yeah the chassis is like increadibly because its a Florida car and low miles always makes a car nicer. =D

ummm... running your car with a compression gauge?? I think (hope) you are referring to a boost gauge. You'll notice a serious lack of power with only one rotor firing...

where is this "compression gauge" plugged in? I find it very hard to believe that you are really running with an engine compression gauge hooked up.

Erm its sort of a weird on thats a pain in the *** to use...but none the lerss it plugs right in after you take the fuel injector out...the car runs fine its like impossible to stall this car lol but yeah it will run but i havent gone over 10mph in it with the gauge on obviously the car like barely moves and it takes forevor to get RPM's up.

Not to get off subject but nobody has comments on the rebuilt engines?? or N20?? or maybe a recomended turbo kit??

Or even any other recomended upgrades...mostly im going for engine work it looks great i just wanna get horses way up there so i can keep up with my two best friends (Evo, WRX STi) [lousy sedans] lol

A compression gauge definitely should not be plugged in where a fuel injector goes. Nor should a boost gauge, although you would be measuring boost approximately if it were connected at that point. Forget about Nitrous and engine rebuilds for the moment and read this http://www.fd3s.net/compression_test.html and do a real compression test. What I think you have right now is a boost gauge, if you're not just pulling my leg entirely.

While we are asking a few questions here, iv decided that I have one that doesnt deserve its own post:

I have the 4 spark plugs ready to fit;
2x NGK bur7eq
2x NGK bur9eq

Now, are the 7's for trailing and the 9's for leading, or visa versa?
(Yes iv searched https://www.rx7club.com/search.php?searchid=1152486)

vice versa - 7 leading, 9 trailing. This is in the owners manual, which you should download if you haven't already

At 345, if that's true, you should smoke their stock cars. If their cars are heavily modded, and your goal is to simply keep up by modding your FD to match, I hope you have money and patience. Because going to 400 and beyond can be a very rocky road. Many people who want to pour in money and go fast(er) are disappointed with the FD - it's not a reliable muscle car.
