A few Q's on my new 93 RX7 Plz help

Just bought a 93 RX-7 with 75k miles on it. It runs well, has some turbo lag though but all in all it is in good shape. But I want to do an engine re-do. Thinking about a rebuild and slapping on upgraded turbos (keeping it twin turbo). New intercooler, intake, exhaust, clutch, flywheel and then be done. As per my goal is to simply get 375-400 HP out of this car. My question to any/all of you is if you all know of any good rebuild shops in southern california. Also, how much does a decent rebuild cost? If I am upgrading turbos will I have to get anything special done to the engine in the rebuild so I dont blow anything? Also, I dont want to pay $3500 or so for a new set of TT's so I was wondering if any of you know of any small good turbo makers that have cheap but quality kits for my need? Also, with approx 375HP will I need to make any upgrades to the body structure or can it handle that kind of power stock? I have the touring model. Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Why replace the motor when it runs well? 375 hp or 375rwhp? Stock parts can hold that kind of power but not for long.

Please search for the other topics.

BNR is a good place to go for upgraded twins.

"simply" ? Please do a lot of searching about modding these cars, a 375-400 HP seven on stock (or high flow) twins is not necessarily a "simply" modded seven. You'll have to change a lot of things to get your seven pushing those numbers reliably... good luck .

I am stoked about getting responses to this question. But can anyone be a little more specific on what exactly I am going to have to do? I have about 5k and want it to go towards the best and most I can get for my 7. Thanks

It's going to cost about $10k to do that hp safely.

It'll take $5k just for a rebuild and upgraded turbos, then you need a tuneable ecu, big i/c, larger injectors, all the bolt ons, etc, and a good tuner.

what kind of lag are you getting? do you have a boost gauge? you should be getting 10 psi at about 2800 -3000 rpms.

start with reliability mods and slowly work your way up. solve all of the problems the car currently has (lag, etc...) then worry about the power upgrades.

You might want to invest in a good neoprene hose kit and have that installed, or drive someone's 7 that is well tuned stock.. Since you seem to have troubble that you might even still have with BNR's or rebuilds... if the hoses / check valves aren't clean no upgrade on Twins is going to help you...

It sounds like you're reaching for the sky on 5K... I've got 5K alone tied up in the re-build, with street port... (Which is something you'll need to get those numbers) Then I'm trying to get V-Mount IC, and possibly BNR stage 3's or T04 either way I allready have an ECU, and most of the exhaust mods I need to get to that number but it's still going to be a heck of a ride getting there safely....
