i always like it when people as me if mine's got twin turbos and i say no its just got 1, and they just look at me all confused. I too have gotten the "is that a 2003" and one time i pulle up to my apt complex and two 7-8? year olds were sitting out front and one kid was like "is that a viper" and i was like no, and the other one was like "its an rx7 right?" and i told him it was and he started making fun of the kid who thought it was a viper.

Me and another member of the board were standing around and one of his friends says to him (jokingly) "Hey I never knew they made a miata with a hardtop..."

and when I bought the car, my loan officer said to me "Man, this thing looks like a corvette!"
my reply: "actually, this 'thing' was sold before the corvette adopted the new look in 97, so the c5 vette looks like my car!"

Yea gotta hand it to the dealers, when ever I go car shopping with my friends or family with them in my 7 some sales person will always comes up to me and ask me if I want to trade it in or sell it. And my reply is "you don't have anything that I would want to trade in with, besides I love my car and wouldn't trade in for anything" and I was thinking to myself maybe a porsche 959 or Ferrari Tessarossa I would

When I had my 95 it was mistaken for a Maserati once and a corvette several times. The C5 corvette stole a bunch of the styling cues so it's a fairly common mistake.

I was asked..."Is that one of those 2002s?" (last year) by a ricer who then came up and checked out my gauges...then he said "Man, those gauges are tight. Do they work?" Do they work? something only a ricer would ask...Probably has his car decked out with non functioning gauges

o man this thread is killing me... I absoluetly CAN NOT wait till I get my FD

keep the stories coming, it helps the morning hours go by faster

Come to think of it, I do have a couple stories to tell about my experience riding shotgun in my buddy's.

Once we were out at the local cruise spot and it was pretty funny how many people gave it a quick glance then it registered what it was and as they were driving by they'd break their neck trying to look at it. FDs in my area = rare = panty droppers

Another time we were out a girl walked by the car and looked at it and asked who it belong to, my bud eric said it was his and she said "That's a nice lookin Probe". All he could do was hang his head in shame and shake his head as she walked away.

We should mail all threads like this to the styling department at Mazda, it seems like they don't even realise what a ******* awesome design they had with the FD...

The probe is MX-6 not MX-3, the MX3 is the tiny little car that have the smallest V6 engine. Dunno why Mazda made it though.

I've gotten MX-7 and 727, MX-3, Viper, Porche, "That's a 94!?!?", "Yo, you must be rich as f**k! That car costs like $80,000 new!", and "WTF is that!? I'm gonna get one!". Never had anyone think it was a Corvette or Maserati though.

I was the cause of a pretty bad wreck when a kid saw me go by and he turned his head to look and ran straight into a mini van the kid was okay though
I had the EXACT same experience, minus the crash. The civic pulled next to me, the friend pointed, the driver looked, and drooling started. I pulled off though, before they could try anything stupid.

People NEVER believe it's a 93', or that Mazda made it.

I picked up one of my friends little brother from his High School once, and it was ridiculous. I parked a while off so that nobody could see the FD, but in order to exit, you had to go through the main crowd of people. It was like a scene from F&F with everyone looking, and pointing. It was especially funny, because as I was told, some of the kids have a little "hooked up" section in the lot, where all the "racers" park together. I was sure to give them a little "rev".

Yeah, I almost caused a wreck the other day as I was going through an intersection a rice kid was staring soo hard he pulled right infront of an oncoming van that luckily stopped.

The best conversation I have had was:

Ricer Guy with cute girl: Hey man, what's that got, a V-6?
Me: Nope(kinda walking away)
Him: Oh, a V-8?
Me: Nope
Him: (confused now) So a Inline-4?
Me: Nope
Him: (now looking like a complete moron)Really man, what's under the hood?
Me: Rotary engine, can't explain it to you, look it up on the internet.

I also got "Is that the new Celica" (if it was a guy I would've hit him)

The twin turbo question all the time, a little BOV blast answers that question.

Friends of mine get a kick out of riding in the car because of everyone always starring, my ex-girlfriend really liked riding in it too, but I always told her not to worry, joking telling her that they are looking at the car not her, she'd get pissy, it was really funny.

The former owner of my car worked for Nike. He left his parking sticker on the car when I bought it. It's on the lower left corner of the windshield. A little yellow Nike swoosh. When people ask me what kind of car it is, I point to the sticker and tell them "it's a Nike". I always get some funny looks from that. Then I tell them the truth.

No one can believe its a 94.

Mike, I always knew something was weird about you, but I didn't think you were gay, and now I have figured it out! Thank God you have moved to Florida and away from our nothern children! Also, did you get your car painted yet? If so, link me somewhere I can find pics!

As far as the thread itself, I have had all the same experiences, just never the ferrari thing. Been called a "viper thing" vette, miata, and asked many times whether or not it is fast.

I never heard the ferrai thing before i started modding...

I have an aftermarket bumper and a Scoot hood and I'm 99% sure the hood is what throws averyone off, plus they don't recognize the Effini emblems as anything they know...the people I've heard maserati, ferrai, etc from didn't exactly look like car enthusiasts either
