there are 3 series of fd (starting at 6, 1-5 are earlier 7s)

series 6 12/91 - 12/95
basically the same as usa spec

series 7 1/96 - 11/98
they have some small differences
they have the "efini" y pipe
the filler neck is 1 peice instead of 2
metal intake gasket
a different ecu
in 97 they had the first rz, it came with
17" bbs wheels, bilsteins, the recaros,
and a different rear wing
in 97 they finally got a drivers airbag

series 7 12/98 - 5?/02
these got a 16bit ecu,
bigger radiator, different intake, turbos and
different exhaust on the 280ps models,
they have a different solenoid rack,
the 99 style bumpers and wing.
the interior lights are green, and there is
a passenger airbag, nardi steering wheel.
there are 2 special editions the rz whitch
is pearl white, with the bbs wheels, recaros etc
and a yellow one with height adjustable shocks.
in japan 98on they all have the rear wiper and no sunroof, but they still have the bose

You've got your basics right but not most of the facts

During these years, Japan RX-7's were split up into essentially 4-5 models and they did name changes between '92 and '93(i.e. Type S, Type R, Type X). First RZ model came in '92 and had the stock wheels in a gunmetal finish. The '93 RZ got the black 17" BBS wheels. RZ models also mostly came with the 4.3 final gearing, weight reduction, just 2 lightened seats by Recaro(Japan models are virtually all 2+) and other weight reductions. RZ models have always had the stock rear wings/spoilers.

Australia got a homologation special SP version for 95-96. Too much was reworked on it to list(do a search). In '95 for only the Japan market, Mazda offered a LE "Bathurst" car.
