I've thought about not really upgrading but finding a lower mileage or new replacement fan. My fan speed ain't what it used to be - speed 1 moves hardly any air at all.

I have a feeling that there's a similar fan out there that will work, that same general squirrel cage fan has been used on a LOT of Japanese cars.

I ripped all that apart and looked at. I would definitely look for any obstructions. If the linkage for the inside/outside flapper is stuck in the closed position it won't suck well. Not sure if you had a chance to take it all apart yourself. Mine is a jdm, can't see why that motor won't work with a US one. If I had my parts catalog here I could tell you what the JDM part number was to see.

I dunno why you would want to retrofit anything else in there. My 1992 JDM car has a violent fan and it goes very hard. It would blow your wig off.

But I do know having worked on my wife's 1995 Ford Probe, the fan between the Probe and the FD are so close I'd imagine they will swap. That car has just as savage a heater fan as my FD does.

Yeah mine is the same way... blows really hard. If you google hi rev performance it will take you to a ebay store.. they have a jdm blower motor and fan for $59. To be honest I would say he motor is identical for both jdm and US model.

Anyone know if they used sealed bearings or open bushings? On my E28 you have to lube the open bronze bushings every year or so or the fan slows down.

I use a pull spout oiler AKA turbine oil from an HVAC store.

The motor is sealed .. I sprayed contact cleaner in mine.. cleaned out all the crud in there. Came out trough the vents.

I'd be interested in a replacement option. My fan feels like when your mom blows on your cuts when you're a kid, only on setting 4 does it feel decent.

I would pull out your evaporator core and clean it. You would surprised how much gunk gets caught up in it.. leaves.. bird feathers lol.. I found a few of them.
