FD V 2005 C6 Corvette

Even if you found one set of circumstances under which the FD would get better mileage than the Z-06 (I doubt it, but just for the sake of argument I will entertain the idea), the reality is that the FD burns more gas in general. At best, you've found the exception that proves the rule. I think the problem is that you don't accept that the Z-06 gets better mileage in general, which is something that the other folks know as fact. Arguing about "that one time when the FD might have gotten better mileage" is completely pointless.

Having driven my FD daily and my father's 2003 Vette on the side the gas mileage is unbelievably different. He works in a city with 25mph speed limits and stop signs GALORE....... 20.7mpg city.

GM makes one of, if not the best, push rod V-8's in the world.
Look at the HP they squeeze outta those babies.
It maintains eye-contact with many European DOHC V-8s.
And now GM has some ***-kicking 32V v8.

I built my car to whip pretty much whatever I can. And really that's what's important, smoking as much of those higher end cars as possible. When I go back to the track and the car goes 11.20's, I'm gonna be pretty damn happy. It'll be a good comprimise and a great all around non-nitroused street car. And, as long as I don't boost, the cars' gas mileage will be pretty close to what it was with the twins. Make the Z06 into an 11.20 car (without spray) and compare gas mileage again. Oh but that's off topic right..we're comparing stock figures.
The comparison is not fair, they don't make the 7 anymore. The closest should be a 2002 R against the Vette's best in 2002(if it's the Z06 then). And that way niether has the technological advantage. Compare the brand new Vette with an RX that has now been modded to compete with it. Apples with apples.
The name of this thread should have been changed to:"Rocky Marciano vs Mike Tyson".

Sorry man. The C5/Z06 gets better gas mileage in city and highway.

Don't play favourites Mahjik, you back me into a corner and I'm comin out fighting. You wanna keep it civil, tell Jim L not to discourage people from posting with under 500 threads, this isn't a private party, it's a public forum. I've heard enough insulting responses to innocent posts, I'm quite tired of it, but at least I've been on here to be watching for it.

I sincerely apologize for my horrible insulting posts. I don't know what came over me to write something so rude and insensitive, especially in a public forum. I hope someday you will find it in your heart to forgive me.

I have no problem with people swapping insults in "intelligent manners", that is called wit. However, when you resort to direct name calling, it's no longer wit and definitely not in an "intelligent manner".

Check the highway figures for a Vette/Z06....theyre 27-29mpg from every single car magazine in the world. Are you saying that multiple magazines would LIE to
the entire world about the Vette's incredible gas mileage?
Oh that's right...magazine arcticles never lie.
Thats as simple as a cam, and the gas mileage will not suffer that drastically since it will be only a slightly more agressive grind.
WTF!!! 8/10's From a cam change when you're already going that fast? Are you high? I am totally laughing at this one. A cam change alone isn't gonna make that much power on a (what was it a 7.7:1 motor) let alone a slightly more aggressive cam. I'd like to see JUST a cam change make that much a difference on a 14 sec car. And sorry, you'd be changing duration and lift, which will definately put the power higher up, hoping the heads will match the increased velocity. The low compression is giving it the gas mileage, and to start building the motor up N/A you're gonna eventually have to up cylinder pressure. You'd change the power curve and characteristics of the motor, but it would be interesting to see what it would do to the mileage.
when has the Spirit R had a different basic engine and turbo setup from our 93-95 FD's?
I thought the turbos had the motor make more power, 255 to 280. But what I was trying to compare was the same year car, so you're missing the point.

Airflow dictates how much horsepower an engine can make. If you can get enough airflow with only 2 valves, then there's no justification for the size, weight, complexity, and expense of overhead cams. Smaller engines need multiple valves (and overhead cams to actuate them) because they don't have the bore diameter for big valves, and they have to rev in order to ingest enough air to make decent power.

I told you, it's something personal from a comment made about me awhile ago. If you want to ban me, then do it, what's the big deal. I mostly use this site to buy and sell parts, not information. If something IS wrong with my car, I call actual RX7 mechanics who are paid to fix them on a daily basis. Not Joe schmo who's changed his exhaust and thinks he's the RX7 Guru. There are many great places out there to help, but people are too cheap. In the end cars take money to build not knowledge.

The moderators don't get on people quick enough. And they let some people with more posts(or their friends) run their mouths like they own the forum. This is how it escalates to what it is. I'm gonna post, if I get attacked I'm coming right back at them. I'm not about to be insulted by anyone, let alone some kid.
If you're gonna ban me for protecting myself, go ahead!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you PM me.
2004 Real race car is a pipe frame one.
This kit doesn't fit a stock FD.
Now, RE-A are manufacturing a streetable 2004 GT kit.
I will let you know right after I get details.
Thanks
That the only reason i thought so and in this pic that wouldnt be to hard to believe. But i've never seen it in person so i have no idea, but i would guess if you took the front end off the front part of the frame has been replaced with bars.
just a guess
