Unhappy FD suspension bushings

Does anyone has rear suspension bushings they want to sell? I need them bad.

I just mounted the new tires today and they looked really bad. They have been making lots of noise since I got her in September but now it really is time.

I thought of changing just the lower ones in the rear but I want to replace them all if possible (just the rear).

I called Jason at RX7 store but he says the wait is for at least a couple weeks. I drive the 7 as my daily driver, so I don't want to abuse her like this.
If there is noone who wants to sell, is there anyone who know I could get them for cheap (i.e. besides the dealer)? The dealer wants 99 dollars a piece. That's 800 dollars worth just for the rear 8.

Helo! Please....

Call Mazdaformance or Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda, they have the best deals on parts and will ship quickly. Yes, the bushings are very expensive, even with their prices. Don't be a cheap-*** and try to buy used bushings. For one thing, most of the bushings will be destroyed upon removal....

Or mazdaformance has them for about $50 each

You need 6 pillow ball bushings, 4 toe link pushings (2 each of 2 sizes) and I think 4 total trailing arm bushings. I still need to do the trailing arms, Just havent gotten to them yet. But none of the others were too bad.

Only polyurathane set I know is sold by RX7store. And I have to wait for at least a couple weeks, which I am reluctant to do.

You can DIY. There are specific write ups for doing all the bushings on the car. The rear suspension trailing arms and control arms are expecially famous as to providing the "rear clunk" that you hear. Search and you will find. As for prices at shops, I'm not sure but I'm predicting that you it will be a bit more than what your asking for. It's and FD .

There are no polyurethane bushing kits for the FD. None of the major manufacturers (Prothane, Energy Suspension, Suspension Techniques, etc.) will go to the expense of making all of the molds required for a car with so few potential customers.

The available options are Mazda OEM (expensive), Mazdaspeed "40% stiffer" rubber replacements (for some locations, also expensive), Nylon 6-6 bushings (~$550-680, if you can find a set), aftermarket "pillow-bushings" from some Japanese vendors (FEED, Original Box, etc., very expensive with a long wait), and Pettit's "drag launch" Delrin bushing kit with trailing arms (fairly expensive).

Some bushings (the stock pillow bushings in the rear suspension, for example), can only be replaced with Mazda OEM bushings. Mazdaformance or Malloy Mazda are probably your best bet for a decent price.

The Nylon bushing kit shown on the RX-7 Store web site is mine (Unobtainium), and they're not in production at the moment, although Jason may have a couple sets. You can also occasionally find a set for sale in the 3rd gen. Parts For Sale Forum.

There are three stock pillow-ball bushings on each side of the rear suspension. One in the outer end of each upper control arm, and two in the outer end of each lower control arm (the inner pillow-bushing is for the trailing arm).

To my knowledge, the only polyurethane bushings that Gotham has are their motor mounts.

I too actually have a question about pillow ***** mounts. I just replaced my toe links and trailing arms, and the car is much tighter(thank god). But, i'm still getting a clunk when I go over bumps. Could this be the pillow *****? My A-arm bushings look OK.
Sorry for the hijak.

Correct. The only ones Jim doesn't provide in his Unobtanium kit are the 6 pillowballs and the 4 toe link bushings.

And the two damper bushings in the rear lower control arms.

It includes everything that can be replaced with a non-OEM part:
4 front upper control arm bushings
4 front lower control arm bushings (2 sizes)
4 rear upper control arm bushings
2 rear upper control arm shock bushings
2 rear trailing arm bushings
2 differential mount bushings
18 total

It does not include:
2 rear upper control arm pillow bushings
4 rear lower control arm pillow bushings (same part)
2 rear lower control arm damper bushings
4 toe link bushings (2 sizes)
12 total

Nor does it include sway bar bushings (4), or engine mounts (2).

Someone should start this business where a customer ship out the suspension arms and have the pillows/bushings installed at a shop and then when its done they ships it back to the customer. Just like how the turbo rebuild are done.

I have not enough tools or time to take the bushings out and install.

Jim why dont you start this business?

I called mazdaformance this morning and got myself some bushings~
They charged around 54 bucks each, which beats the dealers' 99.
I just got 6 pillow bushings for now. They say they don't have all 6 in stock, so i'll have to wait a week or two until I get them......

Thanks to you guys for the info.

Because I earn more not working on other people's cars and parts.

I could easily do that but I don't think people realize how much shipping parts back and forth would cost. If you go to a local guy you don't have to deal with that.

Actually if you open a UPS account online and do everything online, it way cheaper. I use my business UPS account for everything and its usually 5 to 10$ cheaper (more for heavier stuff) than UPS store or any other store cause the price increase is their commision.

That's because you're going direct to UPS and not through a middleman that is marking it up. If you actually go to a real UPS run terminal (or FedEx) the rates are what they should be. All the Mailboxes Etc type stores in strip malls are ripoffs.

Shipping things like toe links, trailing arms and diff mounts back and forth woudn't be a big deal but sending an entire car's worth of parts together would require either using many boxes or a small pallet. The shipping costs add up real quick in those cases.

True, just adding a suggestion to drop price.
