Question Are FD stock pedals the lightest?

I read in a Mazda brochure that it's super-lightweight or something...is it?

Yes fairly light. I have brand new MOMO ones but I like the stock ones better. Weight really doesn't matter much on a peddle. Grip and feel are more important.

Too bad your question was in grey text, heh grey on grey doesn't work too well for me. Anyways, I do remember some Mazda magazine ads from back in the day making a big deal out of the pedals... but they're still only pedals. What's it gonna do for your if they ARE the lightest pedals (compared to what?) anyway? heh...

So do you like the stock ones more because of the grip and feel or what?

they feel better b/c their solid metal no stupid rubber covers....

their only pedals..with a heavier press plate you wont be worried abt the pedal weight

The lighter the pedals, the lighter the car, the faster it will accelrate!!

I resurrected this thread just to show the mazda magazine ad about the pedals.
I just remembered tonite that I had this old Sports Illustrated, so I scanned it.

Nice, I've never seen this ad before. Didn't know those tidbits of information.

Guess what they say about learning something new every day is true.

I know 7s are known for being lightweight and having great power to weight ratio, but come on... Pedals! They look cool, they feel good, and yes they are aluminum. I really doubt the difference in weight will burden your car. What are you gonna say to the guy in the car next to you, "My pedals are lighter then yours." But really, I do like the pedals, but really doubt pedals are performance items.

Pedals alone won't, but when you start applying the same strict weight policy to everything as the engineers did, it adds up.

yes, there are holes drilled... theer are about 6 of them and they are drilled in the fiberglass of the seat on the bottom... they are about 1.5 inches in diameter.

also, weight saving is collective... every once counts!

the biggest weight saver besides taking stuff out if replacing the hatch and window with carbon fiber and lexan... saves almost 70lbs i belive!
