FD short

I just finsihed changing the clutch on my friend's FD 93 only wiring we disconnected was the starter and wiring on the transmission because we had to pull it out to remove the throw out bearing. when we put every thing back together as it should be the red wire on the battery gets hott and smells like somethings burning. the wiring for transmission was conected right and so was the starter well only two wires on the starter. any ideas.

The main power wire going to the starter is an unfused circuit straight from the positive battery terminal. Make sure it isn't touching anything else and grounding out. Also, make sure it's securely bolted to the starter with a nice, clean connection.
