i would say go with the fd my dad has always had porsches and he has one of them more rare porsches now(928gt) the only porsche ever built with a v8. and driving them is always fun but you see more of them and to be honest when it comes to a 911. its one of those things a lot of people with money buy just because they can. you see them alot and often times people you dont like are the ones that have them. a 20b fd that is clean with some molded fenders in the rear is something that you just dont see and it says something about the guy driving it and his taste and not that he just went out and bought a new porsche to say he owned one. if i was goignt o buy a porsche it would be a mid nineties 911 with the fat *** rear end but not a new one they just have no appeal to me

If you have the cash for both buy the rx7 and take the left over and put it down on the porsche for daily driver, BIG PIMPIN!!! I am a porsche fan from the day I new what it was, my uncle has owned several and I have driven several, fun cars, and as for mazda...maybe I am lucky but my fd has had no problems, knock on wood, a car is only as reliable as the person who owns it!!! if u know what I mean, and an rx7 where I am from gets more looks than porsches, ferraris, hot rods, trucks, mercedes, etc....and for the record I live in socal where there is a big abundance of jakasses wit a lot of money and exotic cars!!!!

If you can truly get a turbo 20b *built and setup properly,* I'd go with that. It'll be plenty reliable, you can make big power at a fairly low boost level. Around here, Porsches are everywhere. Not my cup of tea.

Here's my 2 cents:
If you like FD's, get/build an FD. However, just be warned that the money you put into a 20B swap is not going to be realized if you decided to sell it soon after. It may end up being a $50,000 FD to you after your swap, but it's not going to bring near that kind of money on resale.
The Porsche on the other hand will hold its value much better should you decide it's not the car for you. Really, you have nothing to loose getting the Porsche, even if you decide you don't like it, aside from time.
