FD owners 2003 911 turbo or 20b FD
Hows it going fd owners.. I wanted some advice, i am deciding weather to choose a 600whp built 20b clean FD or a 2003 911 Turbo( complete stock but i can change the twins to two GT28s for $13,000 and be at 650awhp).... The diffrence in between price is about 20k. I can find a builder for a Fd and total will come out to be around 35k and for the 911 turbo it will cost around 60k stock and then add another 13k for the upgraded twins. I have the cash for both, i really love the rotary but then again these are two completely diffrent type of cars.. all FD owners give me your thoughts..
The FD would have less than 80k on chassy and brand new built motor. and the 911 wil have about 15k on the chassy and motor.
ps:: which ever car i purchase will be a every day driver.

The way I see it since I love both cars almost equally is if you want something that you will be working on a bit but will be different from everybody else and kill the competition then go with the 20b RX7 but if you want something that all you do is drive but have a high pricetag for insurance, maintenance but a bit less worry free go with the 911.

911 Turbo has always been on the top of my list/ I almost bought a 1996 Turbo right before I bought the FD. I went with the FD due to the extra cost of the 911T. I was not willing to spend that much on a car with a new daughter.
If money is not an issue then my vote would be the 996 Turbo.

well. if you already own a 450+whp fd and in really good condition then just keep it. ask yourself a question, why do you want to trade it for a stock 996 turbo?and have to go over over again( just like what you do with ur fd) well. if money is not an issue, then y not just keep the fd and get the 911 turbo too.?

I'm in the same boat. Don't know whether to buy a Ferrari Enzo and then for a couple hundred thousand bolt on some turbos for some real power or just buy a stock Buggatti Veyron...have a mechanic tweak it for another 100 or so hp...

My thoughts are similar to those above. The built 20b (as much fun as that would be) is just not a good choice for a daily driver. But with the savings in purchase price and insurance you could easily afford to purchase the 20BFD AND a good daily driver for the price of the porche. BUT if you only want one car, then hands down go with the porche. Outstanding car, wonderful motor, suspension and refinement.

60k (73k with the money you would eventually spend) can buy all the FD you would ever want, and a pretty decent daily driver that you would not be embarrassed to drive. (think s2k, vette, 350z, etc...) If I were in your position, I would have a 20b FD right next to a c5 vette (or s2k) in my garage.

both are awesome track cars, Porsche is way more reliable in every aspect.
In my opinion, the porsche recieves more attention but I think its kind of the boring choice. They are almost like BMW's to me...they all look relatively similar except for the M3 tag on the back. I think the 20b would be very unique supercar of your own that harldy anyone in nation will have and you'll have crazy satisfaction beating porsches on the track with a mazda.

Buy the 996 Turbo. The chassis is much more modern and can easily be upgraded for anything from agressive street to full race.
Is the GT28 kit your talking about the Agency Power set up, if so, I just did a complete suspension upgrade on a 04 996 Turbo Tip with this kit. The car is stupid fast.
I have built RELIABLE daily driver 996 Turbos from 500whp to 750whp. EVO built a car that makes 950whp that still lives today!
I love my FD. I have always loved the FD3S car since I first saw one in 93. If I had the money though, the cars I would have is a 996 GT2, 996 GT3 and 997 GT3. With the 996 Turbo, I can actually convert it to a GT2 with less money than a real one.
