Jack.
I have spoken to raceonly about the aes mufflers and they swear by them, shipping is expensive these days! Im surprised that some American companies are not building solid rotary specific mufflers in different sizes and inlet/ outlet configurations.

So far it's seems that AES mufflers and SP mufflers are the sweet spot

Has anyone tried the Racing Beat universal mufflers? They seem like a great muffler and Racing Beat has been in the industry forever!

Im hesistant to buying and hating, I would mind it so much if I hadn't already spent a lot of money on the car recently!

Borla makes a rotary-specific muffler, readily available in the US.

I have a Racing Beat 3.5 in. universal muffler but have not used it. I was planning to run 4 in. to the rear then 3.5 in. out the back. The RB universal muffler is 14-in. long which is leaves a lot of room if using for a rear muffler. I like how Burns or AES will build you whatever length muffler you want in a couple of diameter options.

I've been seeing the first gen guys complaining about the newer mufflers from Racing Beat are not as quiet as the older Italian made mufflers. The RB catback I bought for my first FD back in '97 was quieter than the newer one I have from around 2015 but both are quiet.

I've heard that oval mufflers are quiet, which makes sense with the OEM, Racing Beat, and SP mufflers top choices for quiet.

ive got a FEED system on my FC. its what i wanted when i was a kid.
its 94mm pipe (3.7"), and pretty quiet for what it is, lots of low frequencies though.

it has a mid muffler and a rear muffler. the mid muffler is pretty small, its about the same as the RB 3.5" center muffler.
the rear though is the biggest thing that will fit in the car, its 200mm (8") diameter and i think 500mm (20") long?

they are both packed really tight with something too, if you knock on it, its like granite

I was actually just looking at those AES mufflers. Let us know how it works out @jsnow82
If you have time, maybe download a decibel measuring app on your phone and measure before and after reading?

I'm down for some dB readings. You can crack a cold beer right next to it as an initial baseline

So this is the before. Cold start to idle. I will be working on making exhaust on my free time. It will be 3.5inch SS with AES resonator and muffler.

Some progression pictures of my fabrication. It's been a long time since I've welded stainless and a while since I've touch my tig. So far I have downpipe welded, mid muffler is in place and the tie in from downpipe and mid muffler cut up and in place along with vband and flex pipe.

I have posted pictures of the finished exhaust and sound clip on my Instagram https://www.instagram.com/batmorx7?i...gwcmpuMWw4bQ==. Enjoy. The car is much quieter and enjoyable to drive. I can have a conversation inside and outside of the car.

Sounds good. Not running yet but I ended up getting the AES 4 in. mid muffler and 3.5 inch rear muffler.
