FD got hit this morning :(

i came out of class and found a cop and a university employee parking by my car and i think "wtf"
well the cop shows me where the university employee swiped the side of my FD in his University truck and said the police report was filed. so everything was taken care of after he got my information.
the damage isnt bad, maybe a 6" dent, a 3" dent and lots of chipped/missing/extra(green)paint from the truck. and its on the rear drivers side quarter panel which is good because i already had a cracked parking light on that side. haha.
the damage isnt bad. i'm thinking it would cost maybe 1000 bucks at an expensive body shop, probably 4-500 from a cheaper bodyshop. hopefully i can get an expensive quote and have my buddy just repaint my entire if we can fix the body damage relatively cheaply.

kinda sucks, but kinda doesnt. i'll post up some pics later.

Oh this **** has happened to me TWICE! So I feel for you...

I would tell you about but it would get me all pissed off all over again. Let's just say it involved my car not starting due to the alarm, while the bad guy was getting away.

That sucks.

Don't you have a beater car to drive into high density parking lots?

I have a class at 8, and I usually get up a little early so I can park next to one of the "islands", so only one person is next to me, one behind, and the island extends far out enough to protect me from people that are turning to sharp.

Please tell me you AT LEAST do it in an area of the parkinglot that is empty... cause if you did that selfish bullshit in a parkinglot where open spots are scarce I'd probably hit you with MY FD. Sorry to sound like a *****, but that's one thing that pisses me off more than anything; somone that thinks their car deserves special attention. If you drive it, you risk having something happen to it. Sad but true.

Yup.

Seriously dont do that.

My friend and i already slashed this persons tire because he took 2 parking spots at the local walmart. We did this because we saw what the person looked like. Normally i dont do such a bad thing because it might be some old lady that cant park well or could be anything. But it was a dude, looks cocky as hell and literally took 2 spots, like the line was dead center under his car. Well im sure he wasnt happy to see a slashed rear tire when he came back from shopping.

that's a bitch move. I always take up 2 spots when driving my FD. Keep in mind that I park as far out as possible. I hope the guy at least was close to the store and took up two spaces to warrant that kind of punishment. Nevertheless, what an immature thing to do.

i talked to my buddy today that does body work here. he said its going to be much more than i thought: around 2000 bucks with all the paint and labor to do it right. apparently, any time a big shop does quarter panel work they cut out and replace the whole quarter instead of trying to repair it. since its a unibody car, the paint and quarters are all connected, so about half the car needs repainted for it to be done correctly and match.
he said if the quotes include the replacement of the quarter panel it will easily be 2000+ to fix and we could just repair the quarter and repaint the entire car.

i didnt realize how crazy-expensive body work can get. especially on unibody cars.

Accidents do happen. Hopefully they do a good job fixing it.

Quick question: What mods have you done to your car to make 265whp at 10psi?

Well taking 2 spots is being insconsiderate and selfish.

If you are parking far far away and take 2 spots, thats understandable. But some people who just wanna get something real quick or may have alot of stuff to carry out later on might wanna park close for that reason.

This guy was VERY close to the store and was driving a benz suv. I had no pity for him.

But im sure in your case, its understandable. I just wont tolerate any of that BS the benz guy did. I will continue to do these acts for as long as i see them.

And if you get caught doing those immature acts you will get seriously hurt. So don't press your luck too much.

Ill take my chances.

Its the people who take up 2 spots that should watch out.

There are some crazy people out there. I remember one guy got SHOT and killed just because he cut off some person by where i live.

I don't work at a body shop but my best friend's brother does and, I've learned alot from him. If the dent is not that serious (crumpled 1/4 panel), why would the 1/4 panel need to be replaced? A modern body shop would most likely use a stud welder and pull the dent(s), grind down the studs and paint the back half of the car.

thats what i thought, but my bodyshop friend said that most bigger shops dont mess with repairing 1/4 panels at all, they usually just replace them. i dunno.

but in response to the second part of your post: i'm thinking an estimate for THAT work (repair of the 1/4 panel and repaint back half and roof) is still going to be well over 2000.
