I have a 94 and i have the backfiring problem with mine too. My exhaust is jus catback Greddys Ti and wide as hell. From what ive read its i dont have enough backpressure in the system; dunno how i can increase it cept get midpipe/downpipe? Not too sure but its not harmful and normally occurs when i let off the the gas

It means you are running rich. That is all. Backfires are least of any FD owners concern. Not to say that you shouldn't be tuned properly.

Excessive backfiring with a close to stock car MAY indicate there's a problem somewhere. Zerobanger had a lot of backfiring -- turned out his ACV was faulty and was not directing air to his cat. This is not likely to be your problem, since it only occurs at high rpm letoff.

In over 2-1/2 years of ownership, my car has NEVER "backfired". I don't consider small pops and burps as backfires.

I took my main cat out when the honeycomb shattered into pieces. I replaced it with a 'freeflow' pipe. can i now place my air line up stream this pipe?
