FC Exhaust manifold on FD???????

Just hear me out? I am not all knowing about our motors yet, I am learning fast though. I know that the FC and FD 13b's are similar. In particular, will the FC manifold bolt to the FD. I know that the manifolds are worlds apart in difference, (1 turbo vs twins), but the ports, bolt location and such, does it allow for one to bolt on the the FC manifold. I mean, I doubt that it does very seriously, but I dont know for sure. I am allergic to fire so save me the expense...

...I think I have answered this question twice this week already.

Either way, Yes the FC manifold will fit onto the FD(will slight modifications). The bottom of the manifold has to be cut(if you fit it, you will see what I am talking about), and the holes need to be extended slightly outward at all four corners.

The problem is that aftermarket FC manifold's(i.e. t4)may fit onto the engine, but the turbine will NOT clear the frame of the car. The "neck" of the manifold has to come slightly forward, and then up for an large turbine to fit.

Or you can get the HKS style manifold that fits an aftermarket turbine, and also allow for the smog pump.

My thing is that my twins are going in the sh*tter. I am thinking about just for now trying to go with a stock FC turbo with Manifold. You specified "large turbine"'s would not fit, but would the stock system fit. If so, what kind of vacuum job is entailed.

Oh, believe me, I am very skeptical, but if I can find someone who has done it and it has worked out for them than I may be interested. I am saying this because a buddy of mine has been boosting his FC to all hell for 2 years now on that stock turbo set up...

If your stock twins are going in the sh$tter and you don't have the money for a.) a single setup or b.) another set of twins then you would be best not to even bother messing around with a FC maifold/turbo setup, there will be alot involved..

Can you afford even a used set of twins? Or even rebuild yours? BNR does stock rebuilds for $750.00 with a one year warrenty..

I will most likely do a rebuild, but I was inquiring about the FC because my friend is getting better boost numbers out of his car than mine, of course. And it is single which would make my turbo troubleshooting problems disappear with a stroke of luck. I am having bad boost issues as well, which made me lose confidence in the stocks. Thats all. May just rebuild

I've got stock FD turbos in the garage.
Extras from the engine I bought since I only needed the block.

PM me if you're interested.

I have to see pictures of this!!!

The FC has more room between the engine and the frame than the FD does. The FC manifold + the FC turbine are not tall, but are wide.

When he was saying"will FC manifold fit an FD", I was thinking that he meant aftermarket manifold.

My PP Racing Manifold was custom fabricated from an FC manifold. It WILL fit the FD, but the holes had to be drilled out a little larger, and the bottom center section of the manifold had to be cut. Then the T4 flange had to cut and extended up and away from the engine at a slight angle, then the flange rewelded.
