I'm not an expert in this area, but have you just thought about using stock FD coils with your set up? I'm assuming you have 13bre engine in an FD with FD ignitor and such?

Two of the locals are running HKS twinpower with 60-1 and some other turbo with stock coil, their cars run fine.

Supposedly the FC coils are sturdy. But, I have not heard any information on aftermarket coils. I think it would be cheaper and acceptable to use the FC coils in your setup.

If i were going to use the HKS twin power i dont see any reason not to just keep the stock coils unless you are determined to get rid of them. I have seen a few people relocate the coils from under the UIM to other spots to get them away from the heat. But they seem to be fairly sturdy.

If you are planning on going with a MSD setup i would use a different leading coil because i have heard of the stock fd's burning up from the MSD boxes.

you can get the individual coilpacks from msd but i think its probablt overkill for your particular setup

Wrongo! hehe. I just had a conversation with my man Ray "Partsmonger" Crowe---FC n/a and turbo II use the same leading coil, and list on it is over $400 bones! Obviously, best to get one used.

Re: the twinpower, stock coils work fine. The Jacobs amps are known for frying the stock leading coil (it did mine) so the FC coils are used because they don't burn out

If you are using the HKS Twin Power, just use the stock coils.

How do you know when your setup requires a HKS twin power?

Basically what are the symptoms? studdering? hesitation? Missing HP?

Just wondering that's all

I've let my HKS twins to others in town and those who tried it bought one themselves. I don't really think of it as a bling factor, it just works and you could tell the difference when installed. I think MSD is more for bling since it more obvious to locate one in the engine bay and with its 5+x the size.

Looks like I just bought a lot of bling then. HKS Twinpower Fan here. I was at the dyno runs when Steve Kan was tuning at Pettit Racing last month. The twin power made a difference on every car that it was added to. Steve would run it up and then they would install the Twin Power and it cleaned up the top end on every car.

Yeah

I mean i dont think the twin power is bling, i think it can be effective for whatever setup you have. If it says it produces a better spark, than thats good.

I mean if it doesnt, thats false advertisement.

The MSD 6a with a TII coil will work with 600+whp and 27psi. And its cheaper though. Just some food for thought

i called RP when i was trying to figure out my coil issue.....They advised me against the Blaster 2 coils and against a few others because they have "wasted" spark. I don't remember just give them a call.
I don't want to troll or flame i was just puting a "for instance" up there...and btw thats Lupes car i was refering to.

i was at that same tunning setion....on Aldo's car it made a difference of something like 16-18Hp. I could not believe it.

my suggestion would be to go witht he stock coils and the HKS.

Yes, I do know that people have run MSD with high power rotaries. I was mearly pointing out that, when comparing for "bling" factor, MSD is more of a bling since its lot bigger in size with its red casing. I was not comparing them in performance. I've never used MSD and I don't have 600 RWHP and running 27lbs.
