FC coils for FD or Aftermarket w/ twin power?
DON'T FLAME ME !!! I have spent an hour and a half or more searching and have not found anything reasonable information to answer my questions, so here is the info:
I have a 13BRE (2 rotor cosmo engine) with a FD front cover and a large FMIC and a 60-1 single turbo and any possible aftermarket thing you can think of buying for the engine compartment installed. I also just bought my second to last thing for my ignition which is the HKS Twin Power. my Question is should I get aftermarket coils that put out more power or just get the FC coils for durabality like as duscussed on other threads. money is not a issue, just wondering for one , what exactly the twin power does (ex. do i not need it if i have aftermarket coils?) and 2 what coils to install (FC coils, or aftermarket ones that will hopefully install in OEM place on the engine)
ok, gurus hit me with info....... Pics are avail. upon request....

I'm not an expert in this area, but have you just thought about using stock FD coils with your set up? I'm assuming you have 13bre engine in an FD with FD ignitor and such?
Two of the locals are running HKS twinpower with 60-1 and some other turbo with stock coil, their cars run fine.

If i were going to use the HKS twin power i dont see any reason not to just keep the stock coils unless you are determined to get rid of them. I have seen a few people relocate the coils from under the UIM to other spots to get them away from the heat. But they seem to be fairly sturdy.
If you are planning on going with a MSD setup i would use a different leading coil because i have heard of the stock fd's burning up from the MSD boxes.
you can get the individual coilpacks from msd but i think its probablt overkill for your particular setup

you should get an hks twin power under the following conditions:
1: you want a $450 shiny box in your engine bay for bling factor.
2: you have more than lets say 400 horsepower and want another 10
3: you have more than lets say 400 horsepower and you get hesitation/studdering under high rpms/boost (all from what ive searched and read about)
4: about the missing HP: how would you know its missing if you never had it? ha ha!
5: ive heard nothing but the best praises for the hks twin power even if you search for twin power vs. msd or jacobs ect...... do a few searches and read, you will see.... "best $400 ive ever spent" ect....

I've let my HKS twins to others in town and those who tried it bought one themselves. I don't really think of it as a bling factor, it just works and you could tell the difference when installed. I think MSD is more for bling since it more obvious to locate one in the engine bay and with its 5+x the size.

Looks like I just bought a lot of bling then. HKS Twinpower Fan here. I was at the dyno runs when Steve Kan was tuning at Pettit Racing last month. The twin power made a difference on every car that it was added to. Steve would run it up and then they would install the Twin Power and it cleaned up the top end on every car.

I think most of you guys misunderstood me, i was meerly trying to explain that the hks would make more of a difference in higly modified cars than in more factory spec cars, for example, if i had a stock FD the hks would NOT be the first modifacation i would do, it would be reliability and safty first and then some preformance things and then the HKS after i would like to get those few extra Horse powers we are all looking for... i was meerly just being my sarcastic self, ha ha sorry for the confusion! ha ha....... BETER?

Thanks for the setup idea, but i mainly started this thread to see what coils i should use with my hks TP, i was hoping for some aftermarket coils with the most "spark" output available that might possibly install in the same location as the factory coils. AM I CRAZZZY OR WHAT? ha ha ha...... just me

i called RP when i was trying to figure out my coil issue.....They advised me against the Blaster 2 coils and against a few others because they have "wasted" spark. I don't remember just give them a call.
I don't want to troll or flame i was just puting a "for instance" up there...and btw thats Lupes car i was refering to.

my suggestion would be to go witht he stock coils and the HKS.

ok, so i got a FC Leading coil(s?) w/ the ignitor attached and its BIG, but oh well, and is any of this info on this thread useful to me or not because it is from a 1st gen thread?: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...oil+megasquirt
should i just use the FD ignitor with the FC coil? or will the HKS TP work with the FC ignitor? this sounds like its just easier getting like this: http://www.msdignition.com/np2002/images/pn8224.jpg
and wiring it in, or even a different brand with more volts, ect... or mayby even female holes instead of male pins so i can use my 10.5mm taylor spark plug wires still...... and might as well get ones for the Trailing.......
so tell me does the HKS TP only work with the FD ignitor? and can that setup be wired into any coils? (i think so, they are just coils right?)
