Fault code 31

Well I have pulled the error codes and this is the only active which seems to be putting the car into limp mode. 31- Solenoid Valve (Relief 1) Open or short circuit

To test if the solenoid is faulty what resitance should you see across the two pins.

Then to check the continuity to the ecm will the same color wire that is at the solenoid at the ecm?

Where is the ECM? I have not got alot of experience with the RX7 and I have inheritated a project car which I will post photos later. It has been sitting for some time now and I dont want it to go to waste. Its sitting on a complete brand new air bag suspension, brand new Trafficstar 19x11 rear wheel andd 18x9 front wheels that are also, custom wide body and alot more. Just have to finish the body work and deside what to do with the interior as there are only two seats, steering wheel and gear lever. I might think of making my own dash and panels out of aluminuim and give a interior race car look rather than buy all new interior.

Thanks for your help

Test how the solenoid is acting when voltage is applied and when it is not. E.g. how does are flow in the two cases.

It is not necessary the same colors, check the wiring diagrams (available at this forum).

The ECM is located in the foot well of the passenger side. Remove the trim closest to the door.

Good luck with your build!

solenoid fine.

Wiring seems ok. Same resistances on the other solenoid wiring as I dont have long enough leads back to the ECU.

When removing the intake I have noticed that the top nipple on the wastegate control solenoid was broke off. Would this cause the car not to rev up from neutral. If you slowly rev from neutral until the air compressor kicks out it will rev to redline no problem and sounds really good. Also when driving and under load it breaks up. I have been told limp mode hense error code 31.

Battery disconnected over night to hopefully erase the code.

After putting the intake back on and going to start no chance just turns over and turns over. I can only think that I might be out of fuel as there is no fuel gauge in it at the moment and I will check today.

Main question if the top nipple on the wastegate control solenoid is broke would this cause the car to act like its in limp mode.

I have then re-checked the error codes and gues what 31 is back.

Here is the next problem after putting the intake on ready to start

do you have a boost guage and able see what pattern you get under load? When im in neutral, I can rev to redline too, but boost never rises above 0. stock pattern is 10-8-10 unless you have a single hooked up ?? what other mods on the car?

pics of that air bag suspension would be kool ... and the rims

Sorry I can only rev to red line if I slowly increase the RPM until the air compressor cuts out then open the throttle. If i try to go from idle to red line just wants to die and shut off.
