Fast Idle Cam Question...

I'm re-routing the coolant away from the throttle body and straight to the waterpump housing. Would it be ok to completely remove the fast idle cam (wax rod valve, push lever and spring) from the throttle body? Thanks.

Yes, remove the fast idle cam. If you don't it will make your idle hard to control.

The fast idle cam raises your idle when the coolant is cold (otherwise it would idle a little rough), when the coolant warms up, the wax rod in the fast idle cam goes in, and your idle drops. When you take the coolant away from the throttle body, the wax rod doesn't normally get hot enough to go in, and thus you are stuck with a high idle. If you adjust the idle set screw to lower the idle back to normal, then it will idle good, until the engine bay gets really hot and heatsoaks the throttle body, at which time the wax rod goes in, and you have a very low idle.
