FAQ additions... possibly

Well after owning my FD for a while, and reading through parts of the FAQ/Newb section before I even purchased it... I decided it was time to check it out again.

I wanted to make a list of the mods I want to do to my car and see how much money I'm talking. That way I can break it down into stages and try to do maybe 15's at the strip this year (bone stock with SLIGHTLY low boost), 14's next year, etc.

I found a TON of info on Jimlab's ancient post, and I have nearly a full page of handwritten notes so I can get prices and then rearrange it for an Excel file (yes I'm a dork) to document what I did, when I did it, how much it cost, and anything else. I'm so much of a dork that I already plan on cleaning out some of my internet storage for this file in case my computer crashes on me (again) and I lose all my info.

My problem was that I have separate pages of paper here for Engine mods, Suspension/Break mods, and then Misc. Misc will include interior and exterior that I'll pick myself without help from any riceburners or threads that could be nominated for Sport Compact Car's "top 10 threads of 2006".

As it stands, I have a couple interior/exterior ideas that i've come up with, and a full page of Engine mods, but no solid info on suspensions. I know I can dig throught that section of the forum, but it would be pretty handy if there was a "jimlab" type source on suspension buildups. I know I want to replace bushings, braces, mounts... but past that, I'm not sure what kind of set ups people have had luck or no luck with. I don't know if I should go with straight spring setups or go with a coilover system for the adjustability. Does it make sense to spend more money (or get a cheap set that's adjustable) if there's kits out there that will keep corner weights fairly even already?

Pretty much my question is, is there any authoritative "Jimlab" post on this, and if so, why isn't it in the FAQ? If there isn't.... could we get one going for the sake of newbs (well mostly me, I won't lie) that are looking to build their own toy?

Ok, with that said... flame away and start posting threads that are exactly what I wanted by using the search function. No, really, please do it... save me the time.

For suspension advice, run your searches to look for posts by Howard Coleman. It would be good to add some of his info to the faq for the topic of suspension info.

did I ask for a list of mods so I could run 15s? I didn't realize.

You did make a really worthile post though... taking one thing you could actually comprehend and then putting your own words together.... hey man, it's a first step, right?

Deggesaman, I'll search for that name and hopefully it'll turn up what I'm looking for.

I'm still having a stupid issue with boost, and I'm hoping it's the line going to that intake catastrophe called an elbow. that thing needs ripped out along with the leaking pipe connecting to it, but for now, I think I'll just try to see if I have a leak.... electical tape it, and see if that fixes it. If it does, I'll be replacing that hose. We'll have to see what happens I guess.
