fan wiring diagram

im not looking for a fan mod switch wiring, but i need to know what wires are hot and what is ground for the wires that go directly into the fan motor. i see four wires... green, black, yellow, and blue. these wires are on the passanger side fan motor. im hoping they are the same on the other side since its the same motor.

awesome sig...
well i was going to run my own style switch so i can turn the fans on and off without having to go through the relays. however, i really like your idea of doing this. i might look into that. i drive around right now without the AC relay in and when i want AC i have to open the hood etc...

np, i run them on all the time they are not that loud so you wont notice them that much if there on all the time

i run them becuase i have a front mount and have not put in my alluminum rad yet. but i stay at 180-190 all the time. sitting still or driving hard..

if your doing a switch just run your switch wire to the blue wire.

i want the fans to be on high though. id rather spend a few extra bucks every long while then a large sum on a fried engine. going straight to the blue wires yield what speed?

Is this blue wire you are talking about also have an orange stripe? Energizing that wire will over-ride the thermoswitch and turn both fans on low. It comes from cooling fan relay #3 (the relay closest to the engine and firewall).

If you want to save the functionality of your overheating-safegaurd and still turn both fans on low with a switch, then you can also energize the yellow w/ white stripe wire from fan relay #1 (furthest fan relay from the engine and firewall).

my yellow wire is low speed, blue is high speed

i am talking about the wires going directly to the fan motors, not a relay

but i guess my car was made diffrent

suprfast take a short wire connected to the battery and test blue and yellow that goes into the fan motor to see what u like.

i did that just yesterday before work. im gonna play with it some more later but it works just like i thought. im not going to tap into the relay because i heard that the fan setting in the car will make the speed on your switch differ. i dont like that. im going to get a rotary switch that grounds one wire on the first turn, two on the second and three on the third. this will yield low, medium, high. its pretty much the same thing as hooking up to the relays, but sounds more simple to me. just bought a new fan motor too. that will hopefully be at the dealership today and i will make the car run once again(until i break something else). i also bought another four blade fan. ill let everyone know the total when it comes in. all i know is its the best prices around.

I want a three position rotary switch. where can you get them? how exactly would you hook it to get three different speeds respectively? I have a regular two position toggle hooked to the blue wire into the fans. keeps them at high speed, but I want all speeds just like suprfast. how is done? what wires go where?
