Question Fan relay wtf!? Anyone seen this before? Ideas?

Ok so lately my fans starting staying on after cutting the engine off. Which it never happened before till after being on the track one weekend, and now it's been happening about 90% of the time. not sure if that's related to this or not. Anywho, so I open my hood today and start checking around to see anything out of the ordinary. It's then I notice that I only have 3 cooling fan relays, and of course I instantly thought it was weird and went to look at my engine bay pics from before and lo and behold there's 4 relays. Upon further inspection I found this (pics below), I have absolutely no idea how this happened, cause me and memphisraines are the only ones that work on my car and we never touched it. My only guess is that either the previous owner did this and put the rubber cover over it and I never noticed, or that someone jacked my relay at the track or something and for some reason stuck the wire in there. Anyone ever seen this or have any idea why there would be a wire jumping it like this?

That wire would likely switch the fan on all the time. Seems like something that could have been done at the track to aid in cooling.

Yeah, just get a new relay or a set of fan relays. Should be able to find them used for pretty cheap.

Dale I believe you are correct, that's the only sensible explanation I can come up with. And I put a new relay back in and I don't have the issue of the fans staying on after shutdown anymore. So looks like you're right and that it was done to aid in cooling, even after shutdown.
