Fan recall and Pettit / FC fan switch question

I currently have the Pettit fan switch in my FD. In my opinion the fans come on too early and with the fan recall still installed, they run for about 10 minutes and drain my battery every time I drive. I can usually only shut the car off twice before it simply will not start. I bought an FC fan switch that I have not yet installed. My problem is that the Pettit switch removes the factory connector so the FC will not hook up anymore. I'm debating what to do. If I were to remove the fan recall then the fans running with the Pettit switch will probably be fine. I personally like the fans running after shut down to cool the engine bay a little although I almost always pop the hood as well. I'm just looking for some advice. Ideally I'd leave the fan recall and install the FC switch. Does anybody know where to purchase the OEM connection for the wiring harness that connect to the FC fan switch? FYI I have a koyo n-flow and a Greddy water temp gauge.

OE individual connectors are usually not available. I've never called Mazda about one but every other make I've ever called about they were not sold. Can't imagine Mazda being any better than the other companies.

You could attach the smallest female spade to a short length of wire and install it to the new FC switch and fill the depression of the switch all the way up with some of that construction cement that comes in the tube, looks like caulking. That would give you a pig tail to use for the removable connection. My suggestion, maybe there's a better hack for it though.

My fan recall hardly ever kicks in. I have the Pettit switch and will probably go to the FC in the future. This was the first thing I bought before I knew much about my FD. I can't predict when it (the fan recall) will come on and when it won't. I would like to know myself exactly what determines the fan mod activation but haven't researched it.

Read my post on fan control, there is NO GOOD REASON for the fans to run after shutdown. That was Mazda's hack to try and reduce the INSANE underhood temps from having a precat and 107 deg. C water temps.

I ditched the fan recall stuff YEARS ago and have never looked back. There is simply no good reason for it.

Having the fans run after shutdown is accomplishing exactly one thing - running down your battery. It's not helping ANYTHING.

Dale, I will probably remove the fan recall. The previous owner of my car installed the fan switch mod as well. I think it came from Rob Robinettes website. Do you know if it is related to the fan recall mod, or if the fan switch will still continue to work after I remove the fan recall mod.

A trick I use is with my turbo timer.

When I shut off the car I immediately put the key back to "ON" (without starting) and then set my turbo timer for a few minutes with my AC button on. Take out the key and walk away, the fans will run until the the turbo timer turns off the power.
