false 95 for sale on ebay

Check out this guy trying to pass off a 94 as a 95:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...tem=1809463783

BTW, check out the other 95 for sale, too bad it's an auto. (VR base w/auto, only 7 imported!).

Here's why it's not a 1995...

VIN: JM1FD3330R0301967

JM1 = Mazda Motors Japan
FD = RX-7 3rd generation
33 = Coupe
3 = 1994,1995, manual seat belts, 2 airbags
0 = Check digit
R = 1994 model year, 1995 is "S"
0 = Hiroshima assembly plant
301967 = 1994 started at 300001, 1995 is "4xxxxx"

I contacted the seller on Sunday @ the year. He replied he made a mistake and would contact all bidders. I still don't see any update indicating it's a '94, but LA Motor Cars was high bidder @ 19,000. Notice the Jersey Tags.

Interesting, I never knew what each one stood for. What other things can you learn about the car via the VIN? I am interested to know. Thanks JimLab.

Heh heh. It's for sale by the "original owner", who doesn't know what year it was, huh?

Its funny how he "made a mistake" 4 times in the ad. What a dumbass! I guess he think that only suckers buy from Ebay...

I talked to the guy the other day about it. Here's the scoop... it's not HIS car! He's storing and maintaining it for a friend that got transferred overseas for work. Apparently his friend won't be coming back for a while and decided to sell the car.

When I initially saw that it was a 95 with so little miles I immediately called him to make an offer. We tried to work out a deal but it never panned out. When I talked to him the bid was over $19,000 (which is his reserve price). Apparently when some of the bidders found out it was truly a 94 they retracted they're bids.

It still a good price for a 94 with so little miles. My concern is the car is in storage all the time and only occasionally get's driven, he said a couple times a month. I think the car needs to be driven more than that. Did you look at the picture of the engine? It's filthy.
