Im interested, count me in if it helps with the brittle *** wires in the engine bay.
Just checked the pricing looks like its about 10 dollars a roll for a 5 inch diameter thing of it. I am gonna "dress up" my engine tonight with it, if any of you are going to rotorfest look for me
I tried finding it here but with no luck. Care to locate it?

I am pretty sure this stuff is very much like what I used on my seven when I re-wrapped its harness. Its very rubbery.
It was amazing how poor in shape the factory harness was in. The pile of crap that was the original loom/tape was astounding. I even took a pic of it
Revamping that harness was one of the best things I ever did.

May I suggest 3M Nextel tape? Alumina-boria-silica fibers protect your junk up to 2500F.
Hmmm, next time I need to run a stereo system wire next to my turbos I'll know what to use...
Seriously, if you want to protect wires from heat on a budget just use some fiberglass based electrical tape - more than adequate for engine compartments -providing you're on the ground. Available at any good electronic supply store - dirt cheap and black in color.

Hey Jason93Rx7R1.....that is the exact same tape I am getting a case of ....anyone interested in buying some of the rolls? yes these are the 5 inch rolls......and Jason, that is one Hot girl in your avatar...any other pics??
sounds like cool stuff, I'll have to check mcmaster-carr and Grainger's to see what they've got. Any protection from the heat is better then no protection, especially with our cars.
As mentioned above this is known as Silicone Self Fusing Tape or Self Vulcanizing tape. A number of different companies seem to make it but there are also different variants of it. Some don't stand up to nearly the same temps as others. It would be nice to have a little higher temp rating but I did find some that has an operating range up to 600F which should be plenty for anything but inches from the turbo.
I found the 600F stuff in black at www.epsi.com. It also comes in grey or orange and 12 to 18 Yard rolls with widths of .5" to 2" and prices per roll of $5.25 to $11.50 with a minimum order of $50 online via credit card. I ordered a box (8 rolls) of the 600F stuff black 1" wide, figured the 2" wide might be annoying to work with on smaller wire runs etc.

If you really want some just give me your address and I will send you a roll as soon as I get them in from supply. the one I use is black.
I already ordered a box of 8 rolls of the 600F self fusing silicone stuff. The 3M link you posted sounds like it's the same material essentially with some nifty connectors.
After looking things over I'm actually thinking about using this stuff to wrap some of my braided fuel, oil, and coolant lines that run above or near the turbos to provide additional thermal insulation.
