Recently picked up an RX7 FD3S 1992 RHD. Unfortunately it was a huge lemon and the person I bought it front has stopped talking to me about plans to fix it or replace it. After a ton of research and fuse testing it keeps coming back to a possible issue with the F100. They said they replaced the F100 but upon inspection it seems like maybe they tried to repair it but failed?
How toast or in need of repair is this? Would this cause gauge cluster lights but dash lights are fine and power windows to stop working? Thank you again for all the help, I cant afford to put more money into this car since I was sold this upside down Rx7. Frustrated and I have nobody to turn to, thank you again.
So the two issues im mainly dealing with is that the gauges work but do not light but the warning lights/turn lights work just fine. The other is neither Window will move. I tried the buttons but it sounds like its absolutely quiet not even an engaged noise if that makes sense. Checked fuses but they all came in good from what I can see. There is also one side of my lights that do not move up but I havent even dived into that mess. been working on this thing for 2 weeks now. I feel like im losing my mind. The car is lowered so I checked the wire harness from what I can see looks fine.
Lower edge of that first pic looks a bit suspect. Mention of lowering would have me checking the top of the wheel wells thoroughly though.
If you think it's part of the issue, I saw both F100 & 110s were being listed as overhauled/remanufactured on the jp auctions a little while back.
Not sure if they interchange, might find used ones there too.......a marginally better lucky dip on electronics perhaps up to 30 years old rather than one with caps, worst case, 34 years of age (with the 100), if that's the case.
the TNS relay powers all exterior lights, so it's unlikely you're losing power to the cluster if everything else works. however it does pass through the headlight switch first.
it's also quite possible the bulbs in the cluster are just blown out, being how old they are now. all your illuminated switches are on the same circuit, so if all your switches light up, it's quite possible there is a ground issue at the cluster, bulbs are just blown, or there is a corroded connection to the cluster.
the single flip up light not working is either an issue with that flip motor or a rub through issue in the left front fender well of the wiring harness. the windows not working, as said is usually just a window switch failed. all these problems are unrelated of one another and none have anything to do with the CPU.
