F&*%$# pissed need advice what to do!!!

Heres what happened to my poor car. First I acme down to FL to go to school, so my car was shipped. A car dealership recommended this shipping company. Anyway I was told that the car would be shipped to orlando and then switched into a different truck and taken down here to Bonita Springs near Fort Myers. Heres what happened, they drove the car to the house and I ran out there because I could tell that it was not idling right at all ( it was going up an down ) I got the guy out of the car and noticed he had the AC cranked. Dumbass didnt know that I took out my AC condeser. So right off the bat Im pissed, then I bring it into the garage, the guy tells me to look it over to see if anything is wrong with it. I noticed my front lip was scraped the dumbshits didnt notice that the car was lowered or something. The I continue to look over the car and what do I find, a big *** curb rash on frickin ADVANS. The guy didnt really know what to say when I told him how much the rims were. He just gave me an attitude, and said he would talk to his supervisor. Now to make matters even better I notice wow theres a little more gas in the tank then when I put it on the truck. I left very little gas in the car ( about enough to drive 30-40 miles ) then I notice there is aproximatley 300 more miles on the car GREAT. So now I know they had to fill up the car with gas, which was probably 87 octane, and they had the AC on forgod know how long. I called the place today and they confirmed that they drove it from Tampa. I had no clue the car was to be driven. I thought shipping companies shipped from point A to point B ( not this shithole place ) So now I think I might need to get an attorney. Could my enigne possibly go thanks to one bad tank of gas? The car now has 66xxx miles on it. Point is that they never told me it was to be driven and it was, and damaged. If my engine does go real soon, can I do anything about it. How would I prove that it was their dumbass fault. I know there insured but I dont think they really are wanting to pay. Oh and before the car got onto the truck the man driving the truck visually inspected the whole car righting down anything that was wrong with it. And there was no curb rash, so what should I do. And how should I prove it if my motor goes?

Dude, you have a case on the rims obviously. They should pay for that. Take pics of the rash right away. Get an attorney if they give you the run around.

As for the gas, how would you prove they put 87 octane in? And unless it said above the gas fill hole "High octane only" or something like where it says "Unleaded Fuel Only" then I doubt there's anything you could do. I don't think one tank of 87 would **** it up, although I must say I've never tried...

You should see if the gas was charged to the company and if there is a recepit, if not you could take some gas out of the tank and have it tested for octane rating.
This is why you can't let any of these motherf*ckers do this, they plain and simple don't care.
I know you really couldn't drive it all the way down, but I've been through **** like this before, and the best way to do something is do it yourself.
Hope it works out for the best.

I would take some pics, and contact an attorney, as well as getting a hold of the company that did this.

All you have to do for the rims and front lip is take pictures and file a claim for the damage with the company. If they give you the run around then get a lawyer. As for the A/C and the 87octane you should read the contract you signed when they picked up the car and see if it says anything about them driving it. If it doesn't then you should get a lawyer and sue. They had no right to operate your vehicle except to get it on and off the truck. If you can prove that they put in 87 octane(like they charged you for it and gave you a receipt) and the motor does go then you could probably get them on that too. If they didn't give you a receipt you could probebly get a copy if you request one. Just call and ask. Tell them they charged you $25 for gas and theat you want proof of the actual cost. It's a long shot but it may work.

from the legal point of view: if they didnt specify in the contract, which you signed, that they would be driving it for a bit, then, you should be able to get your shipping costs back, with some more money for the lip and wheel damage.

The guy told me that it would not be driven, as for the contract I will have them fax it to me and read it all over. Do you think they would still have the reciept for the gas? And if the engine does actually go could I say its there fault for putting bad gas in it? I would never put that in my car but those dumbshits didnt know what they were doing.

Here is what to do

For the gas and A/C on, you can mention it if it goes in to court and on an attorneys letter otherwise don't think of it as money. Add octane boost or race gas. Ask a race shop about the A/C damage.

You will need to read the contract for "FINE PRINT" because they may have a cap on what they pay out for wheels or damage, etc.

As for them driving it. THat's absolutely ridiculous unless a tractor/trailor can "not" be drivin with the city or country streets that you live in.

You need to speak with the supervisor "calmy" and express to him their breach of contract and that you want to settle this without giving your attorny the go ahead with the "BAD FAITH" lawsuit! You ask for his fax number and fax him receipts on the wheels and an estimate for the spoiler. The you have another copy sent to him by registered mail.

I hope you get this worked out. If you're worried about the octane of the gas they used, just take it easy on the boost for awhile. I ran a tank of 87 octane when I first got the car. My bf gave me the whole don't buy a car if you don't know how to treat it speech. Anyway, I just didn't beat the car at all until the gas was gone and it was fine.

You don't have the contract?

I recently took ownership of a 68 Camaro that a friend of mine in St. Louis bought off eBay (awesome car, very awesome). The shipping company put 2 miles on it, and the contract stated that they would need to drive the car in order to switch transports. They dropped the car off from a full size transport truck (those ones you see on the highway that can hold 8-10 cars) to his driveway (and right at the beginning of their service window to boot).

I had a copy of the contract since I was there when the inspection was done. My friend had a copy before the car was loaded)

300 miles on your car isn't "transporting" your car, it's having fun. Get the contract, read it carefully. Especially any clauses about driving distances or % of miles on the transport trucks.

As for the wheel, if your pre-transport inspection doesn't show the damage that's an easy claim. That's why they do it.

How many miles was it transported, and how much did they charge. I know my friend paid over $1 per mile, and it's 1,200 miles as the crow flies to St. Louis from my house.

I'm curious as to what company this was so i could avoid them!

Those guys obviously were not shipping your car, they were having fun. And damage could be done if they were flooring your car with the 87 octane. Knock knock knock....

Claiming engine damage in the future will not be easy. Who can say your Motor Should have last this long or that long. Thus proving that your car died because of this won't be easy.
