Extreme loss of power?!!??!
I rexently had an oil leake in my rx7 fixed as well as a coolant leak, I had to replace a wire going to the ignition that wasnt attached all the way and it turned the coil to a faded black. i figures i could still use it but now when i drive there is an extreme loss of power. I am talking 0-60 in around 10 secs and thats when shifting at redline. Dont get me wrong there are no leaks, but hnow the car is slow. I can hear the engine bake a low freakuency bump noise (i think it is missing) and i can smell a little fuel or exaust when i drive. could this be due to a spark plug not firing or should i be looking at the turbos too for the power loss. i am talking severe loss of mojo, this $#!t is depressing me
I'm not sure I am following you, but if you are saying that you have noticed something wrong with one of the ignition coils then you have already solved your problem. 10 secs sounnds about right of burnt leading coil (center coil on rack) If you see a bulge on both sides of the coil, you have a fried unit. It will run very rich. So rich that it will burn your eyes.
Test the Leading coil first. Don't just blow you money until you know for sure. You will need a multimeter to check the continuity.
Leading Coil:
Coil harness turminals A-B= Below 1 ohm
Coil to Coil = 9.6 to 16.0 Kohms
