Exterior Plastic Trim

I've searched for this and it has been fruitless.

There is a triangle shaped piece of plastic directly above the side mirrors. Both of mine have gobs of overspray and I would like to pull them off and paint them.

Simple question: How do you get them off? Are they similar to interior trim pieces? I pulled on one last night thinking it would just pop off but it almost feels like its about to break.

Thanks for any insight into this

Those guys are fun because they do pop right off...but if they are brittle from old age, the mounting clips will crack right in half. The lucky part is Mazda thought ahead, and the mounting clips are replaceable.

Use common sense though, don't force it. when I took mine off, I put the window down and started on that side.

Travis , start on the inside ... iirc , there is access from inside the Car , you can apply pressure from the inside , so as to not put any stress on the tabs ... haven't done this in a LONG time , but I'm pretty certain the inside angle is best

There are three plastic retainer tabs in there.....they'll break easily. Go to the inside like he suggested and spray a little pb blaster in there to ease removal. If you fail call Ray and tell him you need an exterior garnish piece for the door corner.
