here is the weirdest thing ever, the previous over of my fd said that his aftermarked extended waranty company does not cover "major" engine seals, they will cover the waterpump but if the waterpumpwere to fail and caused the coolant seals to go it would not be covered. Because that would be overheating. And thats not covered. You really have to read these extended waranty contracts.

Not to mention when you call and ask about a warranty, they take down your vehicle info, then tell you if you don't get the warranty today, you are no longer eligible.. Hmm
The problem is you have to prove that he said that mods were ok, or have it in writing.

I've said over and over again, aftermarket warranties are not worth it - even though some people continue to analogize it to having a money tree in one's back yard. Yes, some people get a return on what they paid - but I can guarentee they are a minority.

Aftermarket 'warranty' companies have loop holes for loop holes, and they pull every trick in the book to keep from paying out. They're in business to make money, and they certainly would not be able to if they paid out on every policy claim. They'll say whatever to get your money, and let the fine print cover their rears when time comes.

Hope you get things worked out with them, a sincere best of luck.

Anybody have Peoples Choice warranty? I have this and so far they paid most of my 5th gear synchro replacement (no taxes, only $60/hour labor, and they put a time limit on the labor). I ended up paying $180 on a $550 job. Just wondering if anyone has used them for a serious problem...

Yeah I remember reading on a BMW site about a guy who was bragging about blowing his new E46 M3 engine on purpose for whatever reason, somebody from the dealership got a hold of it and he was stuck paying the bill.

NOT TRUE, having an extended warranty cost a lot more $$$ than having no warranty

Dont forget about small-claims court and quoting the Moss-Magnusson Warranty Act, (15 U.S.C. 2302(C))

Your time is cheaper then their lawyers time so send a registered letter to the CEO of the warranty company. If that doesnt work. File small claims court charges and subponea the CEO. They just love getting called down to the lobby to get papers served by a Sheriff. Remember no matter what the contract says modifications are OK unless they can prove they caused the failure. I am available as an expert witness.

I have an extended warranty through Omni, they get absolutly raped by FD owners and don't complain. LA Motorcars (here I go putting another free plug in ) sells all their FDs with an Omni warranty unless its a complete POS. He had a single turbo 400 horse FD with a 2 yr warranty when I bought mine. No hassle when I made a claim, the dealership took care of it all. Check out this thread about it:

Sorry you are getting hosed with this warranty, but there are extended warranties that work wonders for FD owners. But I'm sure Omni will figure it out sooner or later as most of us will get a new engine and tranny out of it before ours is up.
