Experts needed for a fun game called...

..."How bad does Fuego Racing SUCK?"

So, a little background, to help explain this post, if you don't care, you don't have to read, as I really need help with my car, and will get to that in a sec. I took my car to Fuego racing in Feb for a rebuild (lost a coolant seal), he was very fast at doing it , got it back to me by May. When I got it back the car no longer boosted AT ALL, he had ripped out all of the emissions form my car, and it overheated 2 days later. I called and complained so he came to pick it up from me very quickly, only had to wait a month . Then he tells me that it's not boosting because the secondary turbo is shot (even though it boosted a perfect 12-10-12 before I took it to him), and the secondary turbo being bad doesn't explain ZERO boost. But he says the fins are chewed, so I figure, it needs to be replaced, even though that is not my issue here. So I get him a set of used twins, which he uses and installs in my car. I told him to put my emissons back in as well, since I have a cat and didn't want it clogged, plus I hate the smell (not to mention I never ASKED him to remove the emissions). So 3 more months go by, with him not answering my calls etc, and I finally get in touch with him, he says it has been done for a month. Nice of him to call me and tell me huh? So it takes me a while to get down there, about a month, so I don't blame him for that, but the other 6 months is ridiculous.

He tells me my car is running PERFECT, boosting perfect 10psi. I tell him that it was tuned to 12psi before, and he says he will make it boost 12, just come on down and get it. I pick it up and bring it home, to find that it boosts 6psi at BEST and is running REALLY hot, up to 109c in traffic. He disconnected my throttle body coolant line , no idea if he bypassed it or plugged it, and disconnected the TPS, so now it doesn't idle properly. He has ERASED my PFC map which I had Steve Kan tune on a dyno, I have no idea why he was even messing with my PFC, since he has NO CLUE what he is doing.

So here are some pics of things I saw wrong, maybe you guys can help me to figure out what this guy has destroyed on my car and where these solenoids are supposed to connect etc.

This was my initial thought, that he left out the pills in the Wastegate actuator control hose, but in fact he put it together with this hose. Great quality work huh? Well, replaced the hose and the pill, and it still doesn't boost above 6psi.

This hose comes from the Y-Pipe, and he plugged it with that screw. No idea where it goes.

As you can see, numerous disconnected solenoids under the UIM.

Another, down by the Y-pipe, no idea where it goes.

Another under the AirPump, no idea where it goes.

Another under the tube that goes to the Cat from the airpump, no idea again.

More top quality work reconnecting the airpump.

Nice smashed connector the the airpump, that was clearly not my airpump, but one had had lying around.

Disconnected TPS, no idea how to reconnect it.

Disconnected Throttlebody coolant line, no idea how to reconnect it.

He broke the hood release and just left it broken.

Plugged the Prespool control valve hose with a lugnut, and tried to tell me that you don't need that hose.

So I know this is a long post, congrats if you made it this far. Can anyone help me fix all the crap this moron destroyed on my car?

Thank in advance

holy jesus. that is a hack job if i have ever seen one.

also, in this picture:

that is the double throttle plate actuator, not the TPS, not a big deal (not as bad as the rest of the crap he did to your car)

If I were you I would tear it all down and r&r your coolant lines and vaccum lines. It might take some time but it will save your sanity. Nothing worse trying to figure what they "fixed" Sorry but with these cars the only good guy working on your car is YOU! Learn from your mistakes dont pay somone to do the same.

Ok, cool, well still, how do I reattach it? My car was totally stcok as far as stuff like that goes, and I liked it like that. It was Seq, with a PFC DP, Hiflow, RB cat, and intake. Other than that, it was basically factory.

Yeah, the belts were replaced not too long ago, he took it upon himself to "REPLACE" my good belts with the ones you see in the pic. He obvioulsy "lost" my originals, when he ripped out my airpump and put in some crappy *** belt. Then when I made him put it back, he obviously had no idea where ny belt was.

also, that throttle body coolant hose, that should connect to the block via a ~1 foot long coolant hose. IIRC

1.) call Steve Kan, as I've heard that he saves maps from previous customers. If you're lucky he'll still have yours.

2.) Who in the hell is Fuego Racing? Who recommended them to you?

3.) If I were you, I'd find some locals who actually know what they're doing (try the regional forums) and fix what that guy ruined. I wouldn't let that guy touch it again after seeing those photos.

Fuego Racing is in Orlando, and was recomended by obvious morons on this forum that live near him. I think they are little boy racers that think loud is cool, and makes it fast. they all rave about his work. His shop isn't even a shop, it's a scrapyard with a lean-to that he pulls the nose of the car under, to work in the rain. There is another user on this forum from jacksonville, who took his car there and is having just as bad of problems as I am. Took 6+ months to get his car back and it's all screwed up.

But anyway, does anyone have ideas why it only boosts 6psi? Also, (I'll take pics later) but the actuators for the prespool and wastegate have an exit that goes to the electronic boost pressure sensors that are under the UIM, but he disconnected those, and ran a line between the 2 actuators. Would this be an attempt to make it nonsequential?

Holy cow that is a messed up car.

I would report him straight to the BBB or do something. You almost have to be intentionally negligent to screw up that much stuff. If I were you I'd start by making sure he installed YOUR engine, and not some used thing straight off a barge.

To fix it, I'd start with a full vacuum hose job. The blue connector in one of your pics doesn't get connected to anything, but the small hose coming off the y-pipe is probably the one that connects to the LIM down between the secondary injectors.

The 6psi is probably due to the double throttle not being connected. Reconnect that and see what happens.

Finally, keep the discussion in this thread to the technical stuff. Keep the Fuego bashing to the thread in the SE section.

Will do. What do I hook the double throttle up to? I don't know where the hose goes to from the actuator.

Not sure this is what you want to hear. . .but, sounds like you are in over your head at this point. Find someone in FL (even if you take it down to Pettit or somewhere) that knows what they are doing and can get you back to the car you had. The other option (that others have suggested) is to decide to learn all this yourself -- which is a good idea in the long run but won't happen over night. To do that, there is tremendous information on this forum in all the categories you need if you search, and the FSM is available as well. After a lot of reading (a whole lot) and a lot of tinkering, if you are pretty mechanically inclined you can get it all back to the way you want it. Best of luck!

+1 on Pettit or Dragon.....

I did everything myself with my Mechanic in the back of his house. Saved lots of money, and learned alot.

Sometimes if you want something done right, you have to learn to do it yourself, or pay a little more to a reputable shop like Pettit or Dragon
