Expensive Paper weights..UPS officially screwed me
Well this isn't really a crap on the guy who didn't get insurance on very fragil motor parts thread... it's simply to share my experience and to ask you guys if there is anything I can do to get something out of UPS for this.
long story short I bought a fully balanced 20B rotating assembly from a forum member and when it showed up... the parts were packaged so poorly that all 3 rotors were damaged to the point of non re-pair. I have a mental picture of the UPS guys across the country throwing my packages out and into the next truck...But like I said.. The guy who sent them to me didn't get insurance so It leaves me stranded. Believe me...I was LIVID and still am but theres nothing I can do being mad at this poing So if there is anything anyone has done in the same situation please let me know because at this point i'm out the cost of 3 excellent condition rotors and the cost to have them balanced as a rotating assembly. Thanks
on arrival
When I say this was the extent of packaging materials in the box... this was it. There a foot and a half of bubble paper oh so carefully placed between the rotors and the cardboard... I mean why would you need to bubble wrap the rotors right? pfft... what a joke.
wtf 1 pinched apex seal groove
wtf 2 Rotor dent
input anyone?

That's clearly the seller's fault. UPS isn't responsible for improper packaging. I've worked as a package handler when I was in college, and while we never tossed boxes, it doesn't take much for a box to tip and fall a couple feet or to accidentally be dropped. Proper packaging would prevent most damage claims. File a PayPal dispute.
Did you ask the seller to include shipping insurance? Even if you had insurance on it, it's still iffy because the seller didn't package the rotors properly. I think the seller is the one that has to file a damage claim anyways.

if that 3rd photo was what it was like when you first opened the box, all parts left to be in contact with each other, surely its the sellers fault for not packaging properly ?
to me that looks very badly packaged for moving engine parts, and would put it on the seller for not taking enough care.

Ive been through receiving horrible packaging like that before for a turbo.
Took months to attempt to get it sorted out even with insurance and still nothing came of it.
I would get on Pay pal and file a dispute for not as described, lack of shipping, etc.
Watch out for paypal also, they are not on your side at all. Ive had them pull some terms of agreement bs on me basically saying they serve no purpose to buyers.

That seller did not make a proper attempt to ship a heavy item and he should have got insurance since it is a high dollar item. I personally consider insurance on any sale over $500 mandatory.Every item in that box should have been individually wrapped in bubble wrap at the least. andf it was me shipping i would have boxed the rotors also. You should contact the seller first and see what they say, maybe they will be willing to work something out with you to your satisfaction. If not I hope you paid with your cc via paypal, if so you can contact your cc which is the best option. Filing a dispute with paypal takes a while and they may not rule in your favor, contacting your cc basically tells paypal they have to deal with it because your cc is not going to pay them. If you paid through paypal with a bank acct. then I believe your only option is paypal/ebay buyer protection.

I would ask for an immeadiate refund from the seller if that is all the packaging that was included in the box.
Even if you did insure it through UPS they require evidence that the box was properly packaged, which your picture clearly shows it wasn't. You can file a dispute with Paypal but I would contact the seller directly. Send him pictures of the box, the box open , and the damage to the parts. Then ask for a refund, and tell him you will return the damage goods to him once you recieve your full refund. Maybe at that point you can package the box the way he should have in the first place so he can learn from his mistake.
Im sorry to see good parts go to waste, but its not your fault or UPS . The seller should man up for his mistake.

I sure hope you used a CC for this transaction.... When I buy on line and if there is a dispute this is my course of action:
Contact seller to discuss my issue
If that yeilds negative results, then I contact paypal
If paypal doesn't do anything (like they ever do ) then I call up my CC company
Call it a day and wait and sit back and get my account credited back from the transaction
Note the earlier steps were taken only to satisfy my CC's requirements of resolving the dispute myself and it serves as proof. When the CC actually investigates and finds that there is no wrong doing on my part, and thus I actually didn't receive the item that I paid for: it simply pulls back my funds from paypal. Bam my problem solved, the issue is now between paypal and the seller. As the seller now owes paypal $$ and paypal has legal means to collect. There is a reason why paypal bugs you to death to use your bank account, banks don't handle chargebacks like CC's.

That packing is an absolute mockery.
A#1) Thin box no reinforcement on the corners
B#2) Items not individually packaged. (could could put them in a bomb proof box and the parts would still get absolutely destroyed with no individual packaging. Personally I would have bubble wrapped each part, then put cardboard around them, and finally put packing peanuts between all of the individual boxes)
Seriously, this is no ones fault but the sellers. It's plain old negligence.... I'd have packed a gear **** or steering wheel better than this !!!

This is fantastic advice. I once made the mistake of paying via paypal via checking account, got screwed by the seller, and never saw the money again. Now I only pay via paypal with a credit card account even when they try to convince you otherwise (buyer protection my a$$).
I've gone through identity theft, fraud...the whole works, and from it all, I learned that credit cards, despite their outrageous rates and fees, will err on the side of protecting the consumer.

We have since worked out a deal but I wont get into that just yet and not on this thread. I just feel majorly cheated because he got exactly what he wanted and im left in a worse place than what i started with and after the second half of the transaction there was still stuff missing .

The problem is you cant prove his intentions. However I'm curious whether OP saw pics of everything to confirm the parts were definetly in good shape prior to shipping? Of all the apex seal slots, etc...
