if the ferrari engine out of a '01 360 Modena had over 50k, it had better have been taken care of very carefully... and it's due in 10k miles for the major service... something like $10k, right?

That sounds like a lot of miles on a 3 year old car in general, forget about the Ferrari...

I would be surprised if you could get the engine for that cheap -- $15k....

The engine of a rotary is totally different than the ones of pistion engines.... so you will never get the exactly same sound or even close to it.... However, there is definetaly a distinctive rotary engine sound that no other piston engines can imitate.... and I would use that as an advantage.... rotary's do sound real nice when you have the right exhaust ya know.
