Exhaust systems sounding like a Ferrari

I really love the high pitched tone and the metallic blast when a Ferrari is going up it's revs.

Do you guys know which exhaust system I should go for to achieve that sound without sounding ricey/like a tin can?

I currently run a PFS 3" downpipe, stock cats and mufflers.

perhaps the riciest thought i've ever had i admit it, but i love ferraris, but what if i had a dual exhaust, two tips on each side made....?

purerx7 11-06-04 09:23 AM

Not sure its phsyically possible.... but... you could get a used ferrari engine over 50k miles, for less than 15 grand say out of a 01 modena....That would be a sweet ass conversion, do not think it would work without extensive labor...but damn you would have one sweet ass car and the ferrari sound!

darkside7 11-06-04 09:59 AM

a 3 rotor will make it sound like a ferrari........

SpeedKing 11-06-04 01:02 PM

Isn't that "X-Ped's" car? Those tips look like ass.

Kento 11-06-04 01:14 PM

Not to mention the incredibly crude design and construction.

Try the Racing Beat duals. Nice and quiet when you're at part throttle, but a great sound when you open'er up.

the_glass_man 11-06-04 01:16 PM

A rotary will never sound like a Ferrari. Your best bet would be a 3 rotor with a Racing Beat exhaust if you are going simply for sound.

If you want Ferrari sound buy a Ferrari.

That has got to be one of the more stupid exhausts I've seen...

RX7 RAGE 11-06-04 03:38 PM

yea...that looks like freeze dried ass :D

alberto_mg 11-06-04 03:42 PM

that does NOT sound like a Ferrari. Not even close.

now if ya wanna sound like a Ferrari, you may as well sound like the ultimate Ferrari, an F1 Ferrari. you just gotta do what this guy did!

BTW it aint no exhaust mod!

Mazdabation 11-07-04 06:10 PM

Does anyone have a clip of the Power Tone that's not Image Station?? I would like to hear this.........

it sounds like a v-twin sport bike, not a ferrari.

I think great sound is in the ear of the be-holder. IMHO, I've never heard anything better than my Greddy SP while on the throttle. But when it comes to looks, and no highway cruising "drone", I think Kento is right, you can't beat RB Duals.

1revn3rdgen 11-07-04 06:34 PM

Sorry, but your not going to get your rotary to sound like a ferrari.

that car sounds like poo poo

racerfoo 11-07-04 06:34 PM

The powertone is loud, raspy, and does not sound like a ferrari. Doesnt flow very well either.

M2 gets my vote. :)

teamstealth 11-07-04 10:26 PM

A rotary will never sound like a ferrari due to the nature of the pulses per rotation. Burn yourself a CD of F1 soundtracks and drone out your exhaust with that :)

JaNusSolSumnus 11-07-04 10:58 PM

Ferrari's at anything other that screaming revs sound like ass too. I dont know if anyone has had extensive time around them but in the area I work I see one a week and while I still like them the stock exhaust on them sucks hardcore. They sound like Sentras with the mufflers gutted.

I want to hear the RBdual tip still -- it seems like my best bet. I need to fix my exhaust leak because I drove a 100% RX with no leak and it was dead quiet. I think a DP/MP + stock catback will be my setup for awhile as the RB and any other setup is expensive. :(

Greddy sounds good. I am biased though....:D

BTW, dont Ferrari's have a bad rap for being unreliable....at least the older ones?

Yes. I also heard they tend to run hot and are expensive to maintain.
But people still love 'em because they're relatively rare, very fast, and look great. Mmmmm. ;)

Wargasm 11-08-04 12:19 AM

My neighbor used to have an F355. He said the thing was virtually always broken and on the way to the dealer! It looked cool though.

alexpur 11-08-04 06:15 AM

why would u want to make an rx7 sound like something its not?
bit of a stupid question but dose anyone know how to change a break light i have tried but cant seem to get to the bulbs
