Which exhaust for my car?

Hi guys,

I am looking to change the exhaust in my car. I have decided that I do not want to heavily mod my car. I am going to limit myself bolt ons, meaning, full exhaust, intake, Power FC, and SMIC, other than reliability mods. I defently want to have a nice bark on the exhaust, but I do not want an annoying 4-cyl sound. I used to have an old Racing Beat exhaust in my last FD that I dont seem to find anywhere. It looked alot like the Apexi Dual N1 Exhaust. I have been debating between the Racing Beat Dual Tip Exahust or the Apexi Dual N1 Exhaust. Which one do you guys recommend? By the way, I only like the look of Exhausts with Dual Tips. Thanks in advance.

Racing Beat dual or Apexi N1 duals?

That's like asking do you like the sound of an electric shaving razor or chainsaw? N1 duals are loud, especially without a catalytic converter. If you plan to drive the car around the street, the N1 duals will probably give you a headache as well as some unwanted attention.

PFS catback ftw.

I have one and i love it. Doesnt make the car sound choppy and annoying like the apexi's and it looks stock.

Thats the perfect combo, some grunt, looks stock and adds performance. Cant get any better.

I actually bought the RB dauls because I was pulled over for my "aftermarket" PFS. This was when I was doing 40 on cruise control.

HKS 4" Race... Just kidding.

I have the Racing Beat single tip and love the way it sounds.

+1

I finally picked up one last weeks. Racing Beat DT lives up to the hype. Easily my favorite exhaust. Subtle yet beautifully designed, nice "quiet" idle but awesome WOT sound, everything!

I still have my stock cat so the noise is tamed alot.

Plus i love single tip exhausts. Idk.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the single tip flows *slightly* better, and is a little louder.

The FD is a low displacement motor and will sound more or less similar to most other low displacement motors as well. Well, of course it'll be slightly different since it's a rotary, but it will not have that same rumble that you may be used to from higher displacement motors.

But if you're trying to lay low, the RB Dual Tip exhaust fits that bill. It looks stock, while also having a nice exhaust note.

PFS polished 4" SS catback is too friggin noisy. Sold mine at a loss after it being on the car for only two days. Might be OK with a cat, but not with a mufflered MP.

Simple break down....

If you want something that flows but is under the radar and looks OEM

Racing Beat Dual is the ONLY way to go...

If you want something that flows and is LOUD as in cruising drone and idle noise as well as up top sound then

Apexi N1
HKS
Blitz NurSpec
Pretty much all the canister types

If you want an in between

Greddy SP2
All the Tanabe lineup pretty much save the Ultra Medallion
Re Amemiya

Cheers
