Exhaust fabrication question ( J , U 45deg bends )

this is mainly aimed at those who have fabbed their own cat backs ...
i want to order ( in 3" ) ... a U bend .. and a 45deg .. and 3 feet or so of pipe

should that be enough to get the shape required , what are your experiences with pieces ...

from what i have seen , it`s mainly 2 45 degs welded at some angles such as this one :



any info would be appreciated

Wire bent to mirror bends and straights - unfold - voila, required length. Pretty easy to work out angles in a rudimentary fashion with a piece of string and a plastic protractor, if nothing more sophisticated available..
