Exedy Twin Plate Counterweight?

I might be lighting my self on fire here but i need to know. I just ordered a above mentioned clutch/flywheel and they tried to sell me a counterweight for $180. The part that confuses me is do I need that one? I'm wondering if its a special counterweight or is it just a FD counterweight? I know the stock flywheel doesn't have a counterweight but the auto trans does, and from what I can tell ACT uses the same counterweight as OE. Can anyone enlighten me?

You use the OEM counterweight. In this case, the FD auto counterweight.

I just did the install and correct it needs a counterweight. The one for the auto FD is fine but I just bought mine at RP for 125. Remember to change the pilot and clutch release bearings while you doing that also. Good luck. Took a while to figure out the pull-type clutch the FD has.

The stock manual FD has the counter weight built in to or part of the flywheel. The Auto FD has a seperate counterweight which is what you would need.

Well i never did get around to putting this clutch in. But the time has come to finally get it in. I bought the auto trans counter weight, but after looking at it im kinda confused as to how its going to go in. The counterweight has 6 bolt holes just like the flywheel on the clutch, but the bolts that came with the new clutch dont look long enough to go through the flywheel and counterweight and into the shaft. Has anyone put in one of these before that can provide some insight?

You bolt the auto c/w to the eshaft with the large 54mm/2.125 inch oem nut. use thread lock (red) on the e-shaft threads and silicone on the backside of the nut where it sits flush on the c/w.

The flywheel then bolts to the auto c/w with the 6 provided bolts, again i'd recommend a little bit of thread lock. You'll need to disassemble the clutch stack (cover, discs etc) in order to do this.
