Hey guys. My exhaust smells heavily of burned gasoline. As far as I know, she's completely stock (still haven't ordered my downpipe). When it starts in the morning it begins to smoke after about a minute, then maybe a couple minutes after that the smoke goes away and I don't see any for the rest of the day. The smoke is gray and there isn't a whole lot of it. It disappates completely within a 3-4 foot radius of the exhaust. It is not sweet smelling btw. Anyone know what the problem is? The exhaust smell never goes away. Am I running rich?

 

I have the same problem. You are running rich. So to fix this you need to lean it out. You can add mods or get an upgraded ECU to tune.

 

I take it getting a downpipe will only make it smoke more since the precat helps to burn off the gas? Not that thats a reason not to get a downpipe but if I do that then I definately need to lean the engine out somehow.. what mods will do this or is it better to get an upgraded ECU.. or both?

BTW - Should I first try resetting the ECU?

 

I don't know too much about ECU's but I have heard that upgrading the intake will help lean out. I would try that first.

 

Can anyone else confirm that this sounds like I am running rich? If so, what recommendations do you have to fix this?
