the difference is that you knew the bolt was there, but the question is: what did you really think was going to happen? the bolt would magically make it through the engine unscathed?

i've seen it before on 2 occasions, the most recent was on a freshly rebuilt engine where multiple hands were rushing to get the engine in and it took several trips around the block before the bolt went into the engine, punched a hole through the rotor, destroyed the housing/rotor/seals and created a smoke machine after that point and hours wasted on the phone trying to walk through diagnosis.

I didnt know the washer fell in the manifold when I removed the turbo....if I did I would have taken it out obviously

You're missing a letter between the "u" and "knowingly". I'm guessing it was supposed to be an "N" in there. Then your statement would make more sense.

So far 1 apex seal was damaged and it marked up d housing.....when we open the engine I will post pics

Almost had this happen once or twice, quick motor pull and tear down saved me lots of money not replacing engine parts...
