ever hear of rebuilt turbo break in period?
When I brought my rx-7 to a shop to have a clutch installed, they found that the turbos needed to be rebuilt. So they sent them out to be rebuilt, put the car back together and now- only 6- 7 boost. (Should be 10- 12) They say there may be a break- in period before the boost operates at the correct level. Anyone hear of this? How many miles is this period? Or is something hooked up wrong? I drove it. It's definitely sluggish. Low end power seems slow to build up. High end power not there.

I have never heard of a break in period for turbos.
I am pretty positive about it. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
The shop that they sent it to could've fucked it up too.

9 TIMES OUT OF 10
Well sounds like they did not put the restrictor pill back in the wastegate hose !! a lot of turbo re-builds allways forgets that the stock twins have a pill to help control boost w/out it you only get 7psi unless u have a boost controller of some sorts !!! that is my guess????

turbo break-in
Thanks, everyone who replied! Yes, the problem was the missing restrictor pills. The shop replaced them with holley jet #65 and they said the boost is back to 10-12 psi. Can't wait til this snowstorm is over so I can drive it!
