I've recently acquired my first FD. The previous owner had it for 10y, provided what seems like every receipt, it's straight as an arrow & seems mechanically solid etc. The speedometer bounces around and/or falls to 0 often though. (won't be long till I get a ticket!) Are there any known speedometer issues and/or info anybody can point me to? Also, I'm guessing the speedo's electronically driven? For the record, I've also got a 4.3, which expect will cause it to read a few % high, (would be great to correct this if possible, but not mandatory), though not erratic behavior. As always, thanks in advance! (I did search, though only ran into FC stuff)

EDIT - Ooh, well I guess it takes ya to the same place. I searched "speedometer & erratic speedometer etc"..

 

Yep, It's a pretty common issue. My tach also bounces around sometimes. I just kinda pace the cars around me when the speedo acts up.

Also, if you go to the '3rd gen specific' area of the forum, There is a drop-down "search this forum" bar at the top-right, in the grey border. Search there and you'll only get results pertaining to an FD3S.
