engine stalls help
whats up everyone. ive had my 3rd gen for a few months now. ive come across a few problems.. one would be the overheating...it would overheat but if i turn on the heat and leave it on..the guage would stay smack in the middle. Second problem would be while driving the engine would seem to stall ...it gives out big puffs of black smoke and if i dont nail the gas it would eventually stall...and if it does stall...when trying to restart the motor flames would come out the exhaust!! so if any could....PLEASE HELP i dont want this motor to damage

You will get flamed if you don't search first...but since I am a nice guy and this was your first post.... ..............SEARCH FIRST! lol
The cooling system needs to be maintenanced. The system is at best marginal. If it is not in tip top shape, you will see all kinds of bad behavior. Always post your mods or people won't answer. In general, if the needle moves on an unmodded gauge, you are probably getting too hot for safe operation. See gauge linearization... It is a fairly simple procedure.
Overheating a rotary is a recipe for disaster. Don't do it. ...and if it overheats, don't drive it overheated. Stop and get it fixed immediately.
The stalling and black smoke can be as simple as a plugged or semi-plugged fuel filter (located near the gas tank). Sounds like you need to get the manintenance up on this car asap. You need to spend some time straightening it out first before driving, especially if it is overheating. Do all the reliability mods and don't skip any. A few hundred dollars now and a few hours or few thousand dollars later and weeks of pissing around.
Ask good questions with details about your car, or else no one will respond...Hope you are a fair mechanic..

You didn't mention any form of up graded ECU......beter quit booting to 14 psi on the stock ECU or a damaged engine you will have (if you don't already)
