Engine removal
Hi I am trying to remove my engine and I am taking it out through the top, I have the motor completely free and it is appart from the gearbox except it will not come free of the gearbox like something is pulling it back and for the life of me I can't see what it is, has anyone come across thos before? could it be the clutch fork or simmilar I have taken all the inspection plates off and can't see anything holding it
Any help would be great

assuming you are serious...
assuming you have an fd...
the clutch is a pull type and you need to separate it from the throwout bearing w a big screwdriver. it snaps in and needs to be snapped out.

You can also do a search on this, there is lots of info on this site.
If you can't get the pressure plate released via "Big Screwdriver" method, go in through the service whole and just unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel. Much easier IMHO, just 6 bolts.

if you haev released throughout bearing... just pull like hell, you haev to clear the oil lines in front as well, so make sure they are out of the way, and pull liek a maniac. I rememebr fiddling with mine, trying to seperate them for hours, until I went apeshit on it and it came loose.
