engine rebuilt now setting timing..?

well i ported and rebuilt my engine. i have the mazda service manual and when assembling it doesnt say anything about re-setting timing. i know that it has to go on the right way for ign timing. how do i get tdc and the main pulley setup correctly? any help apreciated.

As far as I remember there is no timming adjustment for it because the ecu controls everything for it......you should not have to adjust anything for the timming.....

you dont have to time anything in. There is only one way you can put the main pulley on (due to the way the bolt holes are arranged) and that in conjunction with the ECU and the shiny silver things on the front cover takes care of the timing.

i had thought it was like that, but i had seen all these threads about how hard it is to change the main pulley with a unorthodox pulley because of timing.

Bobfish is talking about crank angle sensors.

smg, the difficulty with the unorthodox pulley lies in the needle bearing that can slip down and get 'pinched' when you tighten everything back up. You're mainly fighting gravity with the motor in the car and trying to swap out main pulleys. It isn't really applicable to your situation
