Engine Rebuild - Shops to Trust? 2023
Banzai I would add to the list. Howard Coleman if he is still building motors. I also have a relatively newer resource here in St. Louis. Ernie with Phalanx Performance that has been open for a few years. He is a great guy, honest and priced reasonable.
Cam Worth, owner of Pettit Racing, is a real Champion GT RX-7 racer who has operated his RX repair/upgrade shop for nearly 30 years. He installed one of his nifty propriety steering column mount boost pressure gauges on my '94 FD3 in 1997. Still works great! When my baby finally started showing white steam/smoke at 90K miles, I took her to Cam's shop and ordered "the works" I got from him a very detailed proposal with what seemed to me to be a reasonable price. As work continued, we added a couple of items as additional problems were discovered. All completely reasonable. When she was ready, Cam, himself took me for a demo drive. It was a genuine "hold on and show no fear" challenge for me. I needn't have worried. His championship winning track skills are intact. Now, several months later, everything is fine. Cam Worth, at Pettit Racing, gets my strongest recommendation.
I need to plan a visit to Howard’s since he’s in Georgia now or at least find him at a track day at road Atlanta in the near future. Had my FD for almost 30 years and can still learn things for him!
