^ Exactly. When mine blows (hopefully with more like 60k+) I will rebuild it myself and consider it maintenance. That sort of project is super fun.

The feeling of driving/racing a working rebuilt motor that you built YOURSELF is simply intoxicating. om nom nom

OP: Sorry for your financial loss man.

The question is: WHY did your spark plug corrode and then break? There are hundreds of examples of built rotaries with more power and mileage which never have had a spark plug corrode and subsequently lose a tip.. Going V8 might be wise in the sense that your mechanic probably is less likely to mess it up.

I have had the car 6 years , its a 97 RSR and done 40,000. Its a very well set up car.
Pip @ WGT is the most respected tuner in the UK and i can understand what your are all saying about tuning issues but he took off the leads one at a time and one was green on the end.

Davy, do you ever run race petrol in the car? If so, is it leaded?

Everyone, give the guy a break.
He is just in the pissed off stage where all he can do is regret and say things he does not mean.
It will be alright davyv... just go over you motor, salvage what you can and do a wonderful thing... rebuild another.
Sorry it had to happen the way it did... just like the others said, go over what you can with your shop and find why that happened. For example, just cause an O2 sensor goes bad in a car that has 5k miles, it does not mean you change the sensor and go along your merry way, you find out what made it go bad cause things like this just do not happen.
Good luck man, hope all goes well.

I'm not sure I could stomach the cost of rebuilding a rotary motor 3+ times...If my relationship with the rotary motor doesn't treat my pockets well I won't hesitate to put an LS motor in the car and never have a worry in the world when I go out and drive the car. Regardless keep the faith man!
