NV engine has sat for three years-rebuild?

life has halted my build many times and as a result my engine has been sitting on the stand for far too long. mazda reman with 20k on the clock. all coolant was drained and put some oil in and rotated the assembly every week or two. rebuilding it will set back my plans more but i am concerned about the coolant seals-should i be? i would love an excuse to port it but i really do want to drive the car some day any and all input/advice welcomed and appreciated.

I don't see any reason to take it apart. If it was on a stand, in a semi-controlled environment, you'll be fine. If it was sitting in an old tire behind your shop and got rained on and had bugs in it, yeah, I'd take it apart.

No reason to break open a good engine.

If you want to make sure the coolant seals are good, get the Pineapple coolant seal pressure tester. But, frankly, I'd be shocked if something happened to them. If the motor ran fine in the car, it will be fine now.

Just be sure to crank the motor over until you build oil pressure before you actually start it. That will get oil flowing and on all the bearings before you fire it. VERY important. Just pull the EGI fuse and crank for 30 seconds or so until you get oil pressure.

The main thing I have seen happen is oil control rings dry up and the motor smoke after sitting for a long time period. If you turned the motor over regularly and oiled it you should be fine.

If the engine has resistance while cranking it over by hand (spark plugs in), making 6 exhaust pulses, then the engine should be alright. If it spins very easily with weak pulses then there is potential a stuck apex or side seals. Look in the intake and exhaust ports to verify there has not been any rusting of the rotors and irons.
