As a rule any project car (FD) can be parted out for more $$ than fixing it.

www.copart.com and www.iaai.com have FDs and RX8s at almost any time somewhere in the US.

right now im looking for a low milage f-body for a ls1 to put in my car and then part the rest. I can get a low milage pullout for 3.5k through a budy at a salvage yard. If I get a car from a Insurance auction It should cost arround 1k for the pullout after parting the rest of it. Mike

we have a dismantler/dealer license and i am signed on to both of those websites. i can buy cars from there and its a requirement you have those licenses. those two are the biggest auctions in the US but its not a public auction. there are a lot of public auctions but those are mostly donated cars so i dont know why anyone would donate an FD to the salvage auctions...

also, i was planning to buy it to build an all out race car. i was going to sell the interior and drivetrain and go with either another 13B or 20B with a dogbox tranny for the track..... thats about the only thing that car is good for (or to part out)

oh, i just noticed something that is very wierd... i have seen almost 100+ fd's at the auction in the past years and about 10 of them had the airbag's deployed.... is it because the sensors are old or it just needs a really strong hit to open them???

FD airbags should only deploy in a full frontal collision. If the collision is offset, to the side or to the rear the airbag should not deploy.

I picked up a 93 VR on tan with 70k on it with about the same damage. My color combo was not near as rare and desired as the SSM on Red and I got 4k for the car with the entire drivetrain removed from the car. However mine did have a clear title. This should give you an idea of what these cars go for in the future. I sold it on the forum and it took about 5 hours to sell. Forum member's name is unvmyrx7 so I am sure he could give everyone an idea on how much it cost him to repair As far as I know it is fixed and on the road today. Hope this will be helpful info for the future

You can surf the websites and pay a friend with license $100 to bid it for you. If you don't have a friend with a license then you can head over to a wrecking yard and ask them to bid it for you.

In Oregon private people can purchase cars through IAA and Copart, only a few per year though.

My point is that an individual doesn't have to have a license to get a car from either place.
