Engine fans always come on after shutdown

Just wondering if it was normal for the engine fans to come on when you shut the car down...

Now the fans wont come on right when i turn the car off... I have to turn the car off and then put the key back in the ignition and then turn it to the "start" position.. THen the fans will come on..

I have read some stuff about the fan mods and such and that the fans usually will come on when your egine temps reach a certain temperature...

Now, I dont have a stand alone engine temperature monitoring device so I am unable to determine my temperatures...

BUt I have driving the car very gently for the past week, and still the fans will come on after i shut the car down and turn the key to the "start position"

Sorry if this sounds confusing...

When I have driven the car hard the fans usually will come on when i am letting it cool off in my driveway...

Ok a few questions...From reading the post about "engine temps"

I have a stock radiator..
I am not sure if I have the fan mod =)
I am not sure if my radiator fans work correctly either...
The only time i hear the fans come on is when i stop the car and put it in the key at the "start" position...

How can i make sure that the radiator fans work while I am running the car?

When you shut the car down, there is no coolant flow because the water pump is driven by a belt attached to the main pulley. The coolant that is near the hot parts of the motor will heat up, which is perfectly normal. If you turn ignition on, the ECU will sense that this pocket of coolant is hot (because it's right next to the coolant sensor) and activate the fans. Again, this is probably normal.

However, if you don't have a coolant temp gauge, your car might be getting too hot while you're driving or idling. You might want to install an aftermarket temp sensor, more info on this and a LOT of other cooling stuff in this thread:
