Question engine/emission harness

I recently picked up a '93 FD (CA model) project and have come up with a few questions. I was reading over the '94 body electrical manual that someone so graciously provided and noticed it has pictured an "emission harness" & "engine harness." They appear to be separate harnesses, yet the manual doesn't seem to go into much detail in regards to the emission harness. Mine may need an emission harness, but I believe the other harness on the left side of the engine is OK. So are these separate, or do you get both when you buy an "engine harness?" On a side-note, does anyone have just an emission harness for sale?

I searched for previous threads regarding the emission harness but didn't come up with much. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

What we here tend to call the engine wiring harness is really the "emissions harness" in the wiring diagram. This is the one that roasts, gets brittle, and shorts out.

I think the harness called "engine harness" is the one that goes to the alternator, power steering pump, a/c compessor, and other stuff. This one is usually fine and doesn't need replaced unless it's been damaged.

The one that goes through the firewall right under the ABS unit, right? That's the one I need. I'm working on removing it right now so I know exactly where it goes.

Yes, its often referred to as the main wiring harness. When ordering it, just mention that its the harness that connects from the ECU out into the engine bay (and tranny). From Mally Mazda, that harness is about $700. I would also recommend replacing the ignition harness while you are at it. IIRC, it should be about $70.
