Electronic Exhaust Flange??

I remember a while back... I can't find it now...
There is this electronic device that can either switch your exhaust to open straight through your downpipe or back to your cat back.... I saw some people had this and it seems pretty cool for a daily driver like me.
When you race you open it up and when you are just going to work just close it back to the cat back....
Do you guys know what it is called or is there a web site where they sell these?
Thanks a bunch~~

I think I remember what your talking about. I believe it's in one of those Best Motoring video. They featured an R34 with this prototype exhaust...with a twist of a dial it opened up the exhaust (batmobile style). I think the manufacturer is HKS, but I dont think its available for the FD.

Hope that helps...

Apexi does not make one. Apexi's is basically an electronic silencer (or restrictor). What's he's asking about is an electronic device to change the "routing" of your exhaust:

1. One path through your catalytic converter and catback
2. One path straight out of the car bypassing the above

and having that being switched from inside the car at a moments whim...

My buddy has these on his AMG Mercedes. His are right at the back of the car, just ahead of the muffler. Keep 'em where you can see 'em, because his often get carboned-up, and will stick.

I had one on my previous car and know many others (SRT-4 crowd actually)... and to be completely honest... I'm not sure if theres a reliable one out. Usually you can find it warenteed... but that only last so long....

From all the heat and carbon build up; it'll stick or warp(like mine). I cant even imagine doing it to my rx-7....

But... on the plus side, while it worked... it worked. It was a great option to have and did produce execellent results. Although...... produces high screaming... irritating sounds.

Heres a link to where mine was purchased... maybe you can just have a shop fab something for you to fit this piece.

http://www.needswings.com/ProductsLi...10&selection=1

and fyi, I hope whoever does it.. specially with an rx7, has either a wideband or some sort of monitoring device because this really opens up flow.

I hope I was of some help.

Awsome~~~ I wanted to do this so bad because I mean if you have a totally open exhaust without having to go under the car and change back and forth it would be a splendid idea.

Race day : Open it up with a switch
Regualr day : Close it so it will re-route it back to the stock exhaust settings.

I'm just wondering how much of a boost creep it would create due to the fact there is no more exhaust restriction anymore when its fully opened up... however it would definetally be one hell of a drive with it open..... I can imagine flames just comming out under your car when it starts back firing... hehehe

SARD makes a unit that will change the actual diameter of your pipe, IIRC.
